Description

This delightful home has distant sea views and is a short walk away from the centre of Westward Ho! Summer Breeze is a detached bungalow sat quietly among similar buildings and has a roomy open plan lounge and dining room with walkway through to the kitchen area, which is well equipped making dining at home a top option after an exhilarating day exploring North Devon. There are lovely sea views from the lounge and double bedroom; whilst the single bedroom is at the back of the property. This room has an additional single pull-out bed and leads into a conservatory with more relaxing seating. Outside there is an attractive garden with patio and garden furniture for eating outside. Westward Ho! is the only place in Britain with an explanation mark in its name, but there's more to it than quirky grammar. Golden Bay beach is a long strip of sand backed by a pebble ridge. On the northern end, you can access the Northern Burrows, a scientifically important area which juts out into the mouth of the estuary. A site of special scientific interest, it boasts sand dunes, salt marsh, grassland, rocky shore and is teeming with wildlife, including rare plants, insects, birds and stunningly vivid lichen. A short drive east takes you to Barnstaple, which is the commercial and agricultural centre of North Devon. It is a charming place that comfortably blends a handsome past with an energetic, present-day buzz. It has a mix of cutting-edge retail outlets, long-established family owned stores and little boutiques. The pannier market hosts local food producers interspersed with dozens of cafes. At weekends, Barnstaple makes wandering the streets a distinct pleasure, with performers and musicians out to entertain. If the weather turns nasty, you’re well provided for in the town. Let’s Go is Barnstaple’s newest family entertainment complex. There’s also a 1930s cinema which offers four modern screens showing the latest releases as well as live screenings of theatre productions

Reviews

A lovely little bungalow. It was clean and easy to keep on top of as all cleaning equipment was available in the bungalow. There was a lovely view of the sea and only a 15 minute walk to the beautiful beach. The contact with the owners/company was brilliant and kept us updated throughout. We highly recommended it!

Mrs H,

Lovely comfortable well equipped property. We were lucky with the weather and once we'd had a beach walk found it lovely to sit in the garden at Summer Breeze. Really good bungalow, high standard overall and would love to visit again.

Mrs H,

On arrival ten minutes after the set arrival time, gardener and cleaner still on premises taking up parking space forcing us to park elsewhere which upset a neighbour. On entering the property, kitchen and living room floors were both still very wet. Items of glassware were dirty, so, had to inspect several and wash immediately. We noticed that the fridge/freezer was set on number 6 which we thought was high, despite this, both the fridge and freezer did not appear to work to full capacity taking a long time for items to chill in the fridge and for ice to be made in the freezer. We came to this conclusion after monitoring its performance until Tuesday morning when we then reported the matter, we were informed that it would be checked on our departure. However, despite the above we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Summer Breeze and Westward Ho! and so did our dog, Buddy.
