Supporting UK Community Foundations
Original Cottages is proud to announce that we are once again supporting national charity UK Community Foundations (UKCF). Community foundations do invaluable work across the country to help support community-led projects and facilities for the betterment of both people’s lives and the environment. Last year, we, alongside our holidaymakers, raised £20,000 for UKCF and we’d love your help to beat that amount this year. By allocating UKCF as our opt-in charity when you book a holiday with us, we hope that we can be a help to UKCF once again.
So why UKCF?
Community foundations have helped thousands of people over the years through their various partnerships with local businesses, charities and organisations. Original Cottages believes strongly in the work of UKCF, but we are particularly drawn to them for two main reasons.
The first is that the work of UKCF helps to promote the development of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in community foundations where we have our holiday cottages. This includes education and support to help those community foundations to reach, better represent, and serve their communities, enabling them to reach and connect marginalised communities who may not always benefit from charitable funding.
We also want to help UKCF to promote the development of environmental activities in local communities, something we’re sure our valued holidaymakers will agree with. This includes education and support to help those community foundations promote environmental activities and the promotion of environmental funding, as well as supporting work toward the environmental aspects of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in their communities.
We are indebted to the communities where we have properties. After all, we provide the accommodation, but all the other holiday fun is provided by the people who live and work in the area. Please consider joining us to give back through UKCF.
