Description

West North Cottage is a 200 year old fisherman's house, set in a quiet cobbled courtyard, with four other similar properties, tucked just behind West Looe's working fishing quay. Boat trips, bookable from the harbour, include glass bottom boat excursions, sea cruises and speed boat rides or you can just sit and watch the fishing boats going about their daily business. The property is conveniently located to explore both West Looe and the stunning Hannafore seafront with its rock pools, pitch and putt and cafes. Here visitors can enjoy views over to beautiful St. George's Island and a fabulous coastal walk leading to pretty coves like Talland Bay and the neighbouring fishing village of Polperro. From Looe Harbour visitors can take a 10 minute stroll or a 40p boat taxi (tide permitting) across to East Looe with its long sandy beach and many bars, cafes, restaurants and independent shops. West North Cottage is well located to explore Cornwall's mile after mile of glorious coastline. For a city visit, Plymouth is around 40 minutes' drive away, and Truro about an hour and a half.  The acclaimed Eden Project is around 40 minutes away. Well-renovated to provide comfortable holiday accommodation West North Cottage retains its byegone charm with its curvy, thick white washed walls, original Delabole slate flooring, exposed beams and stonework. Downstairs an open plan living area makes the most of the cosy space with a characterful lounge/diner, galley kitchen and wet room. Upstairs, two bedrooms and a further cloakroom complete the property. The front of the cottage is accessed via a shared courtyard with some pretty pot plants and a bench for guests to sit out on a sunny evening.

Beautiful hidden fisherman’s cottage very quaint. Perfect location on the West side of Looe. Suitable for three people.

Mrs B,

Lovely cottage, quirky , but very comfortable and clean. Right in the hearts of Looe Cornwall

Mrs Alison P,

Location

The town of Looe has charming narrow streets leading down to a picturesque harbour, and is split into East and West Looe by the river that runs through it, and on down to the beach.  Looe's sandy beach has a little cafe where you can linger over a cup of coffee while people-watching or admiring the view.

There are a number of lovely cafes, as well as restaurants and pubs to choose from, making this a great destination for the foodies among you.  You will have the opportunity to buy freshly-caught fish from the market on the quay, or if you fancy it, go out on a fishing trip to have a go at catching your own!

If you don't fancy fishing, a good alternative boat trip is to Looe Island, where you can find some lovely examples of rare plants, and spot plenty of wildlife, including grey seals and seabirds.  Looe Marine Conservation Group can give you more information about the island and its wildlife.

Looe is said to be a wonderful place to enjoy the New Year festivities, a time when many happy party-goers in fancy dress descend upon the town to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy a magnificent display of fireworks.
