Description

Situated in an elevated position directly on the Hadrian's Wall Path this detached stone cottage has been skilfully converted to provide excellent quality accommodation whilst retaining many original features with exposed stone walls and beamed ceilings. It stands in a peaceful, rural setting with open views across meadows and the 'Wall'. The Coast to Coast 'The Roman Way' cycle route passes close by. The area around the cottage, known locally as "God's Own Country" is close to the centre of the Roman Wall. With wide open spaces and captivating views the region is relatively undiscovered so it is a perfect location for a truly relaxing break. Once a significant base for 1000 Roman Soldiers, Birdoswald now has an important visitor's centre which provides a fascinating insight into Roman culture.
