Description

When visiting the coast, nothing seems more ideal than finding a holiday home where there are only a few steps from the front door to the beach. The historic Craighurst building is found on Southwold seafront. Its front exterior faces out to sea and it is just a stone throw away from the eccentric Southwold Pier. Part of The Craighurst, a large Edwardian building, 10 the Craighurst is one of twelve apartments. Originally three terraced houses, The Craighurst has an interesting history, being bombed during the Second World War and enduring substantial damage along with many other buildings in Southwold at that time. Thankfully, the building was saved in the 1980’s when it was turned into a hotel and restaurant. When these eventually closed in the 2000’s, final renovations began to turn The Craighurst into the characteristic apartments that they are today.

10 The Craighurst boasts handsome interior throughout. Modern and antique furnishings are combined perfectly together along with Farrow and Ball White tone colour palettes which create a calm, eye-pleasing environment. The impressively sized sitting area is the perfect place to unwind. Guests can enjoy watching the 34-inch flat screen on the extra large, deep sofa, or sit at the table thoughtfully placed to make the most the fantastic sea views as the sun pours through the ceiling height bay window. Large glass doors, which can be opened fully, create an opened planned environment leading from the sitting room to the kitchen/diner. Incredibly spacious, the wonderful kitchen dining area means cookers and eaters can enjoy time together and utilise the fully equipped kitchen which ensures the self-catering holiday home can be used to its full potential. Guests will sink into a deep slumber in the master bedrooms super king sized bed, complete with the highest quality luxury thread count bedding. Children will enjoy the fun bunk beds and Ralph Lauren map wallpaper in bedroom number two. The white and navy bathroom complements the apartments themes with a contemporary sink and over bath shower.

The apartment has the added bonus of a private entrance and is just a short walk to Southwold High Street which has a great choice of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. The iconic Sole Bay Inn, a great little seaside pub, is just 100 yards away housing a fantastic range of Southwold’s Adams products and is located just under Southwold’s lighthouse.10 The Craighurst is the epitome base when holidaying in Suffolk. Shop: 300 yards Pub: 100 yards.

Why We Love This Property: We would be silly not to mention the outstanding sea views that make 10 The Craighurst so special. Southwold’s unspoilt coastline provides the apartment with its stunning outlooks where guests of the holiday home can experience a truly unique UK holiday stay as they watch The North Sea waves breaking on the Southwold shore from the comfort of the luxurious sitting room.

Southwold Pier Area - It is often said that nothing changes in Southwold. However, the much-acclaimed pier was rebuilt in 2001 and was the first to be constructed in England in over 50 years. It now fits in well with the painted beach huts, promenade and colourful flowerbeds. There is a shop, cafes and an alternative amusement arcade there. The selection of properties' hereabouts makes it an ideal location to stay in Southwold if you require quiet accommodation that is also close to the beach, town centre and the many footpaths across the marshes leading you to the less explored areas of the town.

Reviews

Excellent quality

Mr A,

Brilliant location overlooking the sea and lovely spacious living accommodation however both bedrooms are very small with limited storage. Should also note that no smart TV is provided in the property.

Mrs D,

Best Christmas ever! Such a cosy, comfy place to come back to after long walks. All the seasonal decorations made it feel super special, as well as sitting in the bay window watching the sea and the excited dogs.

Ms R,

We return here annually simply because No.10 is like a little home from home. The property is clean, well maintained and incredibly comfortable. It's a perfect bolthole. In addition, I can't recommend Suffolk Secrets and the team highly enough. Everything is always dealt with quickly, courteously and professionally. We'll be back again in '24 for sure.

Mr M,

This should not be rated as a 4 star property. May have been when originally rated in 2017. When did you last visit to anssess? Everything is tired. Chipped kitchen work surfaces, faulty window catch, course carpet (with light patches…..suggested stain removal damage), water stains on bathroom floor (unsure if it had been washed), dead vegetation all over courtyard. Uncomfortable sofa, restricted space to manoeuvre around bed in master bedroom (I have just had knee replacement), tiny restricted gap to enter the second bedroom. Limited clothes hanging space/facility in master. And not clear from property details or access instructions, that pedestrian access is from the rear. Key safe is on back of brick pier on the right (not left, as stated in instructions). That said, great view from front window and good location.

Mr David C,
