Cottages in Southwold
Oh you are in for a treat... Southwold is a real gem!
As you walk through this pretty town you will be delighted by the quaint houses and shops that line the streets. There are some adorable boutiques, independent delis and cafés along with a few you will recognise from the high street too. Take a stroll, browse the delightful book shops, grab a fresh brew with a homemade pastry and relax. There's no rush in Southwold.
Don't forget to grab your bucket and spade on the stroll down to the beach. We dare you to pass the olde world pubs without stopping for half pint of the local stuff. If you find a favourite then you can pop into the Adnams shop where you will be spoilt for choice. When you eventually reach it, the beach is made up of sand and shingle. This is great those that love a grand design, for making sandcastle worlds of make believe fairies or giants with shingle pathways that lead to grand entrances... or you could just stick a flag in yours!
As you walk on along the sea front towards the pier you can admire the wonderful colours of the beach huts along with the lighthouse that stands tall above the houses in the town behind. The lighthouse featured in Grandpa in my pocket - a popular children's cebeebies programme. You'll be the most popular person in your party of holiday makers if you have small children to entertain, well that and the ice cream treats.
You can't visit Southwold without visiting the Pier. It has a great feel to it. It's like you'd imagine a pier to be. You can stroll to the end and watch the world go by listening to the waves crash whilst you eat your take away fish and chips. You could, visit the quirky world of Tim Hunkins with his old fashioned machines or watch the water clock that puts on a show every 30 mins. If you need to rest the weary legs there are some wonderful places to eat, whether it be on the pier or back in the town. Enjoy watching the sun set before you head back to your cottage.
Whatever you choose to do - we hope you enjoy Southwold as much as we do.
