Description

Nestled in the quiet and quaint village of Dunwich, surrounded by a beautifully landscaped garden, this pretty cottage is a charming getaway for seven guests looking for rest and relaxation. This coastal village is steeped in wonderful history with the remains of a 13th-century monastery perched at the top of the hill and was once a thriving port in the Middle Ages. Now, it is a gorgeous holiday hot spot with a great pub serving delicious food only a short walk from the cottage and a stunning sand and shingle beach which is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It's also one of the Heritage Coasts' quiet beaches making it a great place to come and relax. RSPB Minsmere is just 1.8 miles away for any nature and wildlife enthusiasts, whilst the popular coastal towns of Aldeburgh (11 miles) and Southwold (9 miles) are within easy reach.

This characterful and charming cottage is the peaceful escape you have been looking for and is ideal for both family-friendly holidays or weekends away with friends. Offering ample accommodation for seven guests with the use of three bathrooms, it caters for everyone. The kitchen is the hub of the home with all appliances and plenty of cooking equipment to whip up some tasty treats. The sitting room is a warm and cosy space with a smart television, comfy sofas, and a roaring open fire to snuggle up to in the chillier months following a brisk walk along the beach. Upstairs hosts three of bedrooms with a further double bedroom with shower room next door. The main bedroom with a double bed has beautiful antique furnishings as well as a contemporary en-suite bathroom with a roll top, and clawfoot bath to soak in. There is a twin bedroom which can also be made up into a King if this suits your requirements and a cute single bedroom ideal for a child and has shared use of the family bathroom. If you need to work whilst away, there is a dedicated space with an antique wooden desk on the landing with a library of books to peruse too. Back on the ground floor, there is a handy cloakroom and generous utility room perfect for coats, boots and dogs, so do bring your four-legged friend along for the holiday.

Outside is the cherry on the top with a gorgeous landscaped garden which envelopes this property with mature trees offering shade in the summer and a great spot for picnics or playing. There is a children's climbing frame and a wonderful patio area with an outdoor dining table and chairs as well as a BBQ to eat al fresco. The views from the bottom of the garden stretch across the unspoilt countryside which makes up part of the Westleton Heath Nature Reserve. This really is the place to come for some well-earned time away.

Reviews

A perfect house for a family gathering - we had a great time and our three year old loved the big, safe garden. There was plenty of space for all of us (5 adults and toddler) and everything was comfortable and good quality throughout. We loved the books and games and feeling that we were welcome and could make ourselves at home. Great location- short walk to wonderful beach and cafe. Sainsbury's grocery delivery was very successful too. A really relaxing holiday - thank you.

Mrs S,

A fabulous cottage with an equally fabulous enclosed garden. All I can say is that we didn't want to leave.

Mr B,

This is a gorgeous cottage, beautifully furnished with some amazing original features. Really cosy and inviting in the most scenic location. Very clean upon arrival with a much appreciated welcome food and drink hamper. About a 15 minute walk to the wonderful village pub (The Ship) and beach which is totally breath taking. Our first visit to Dunwich and Suffolk as a county - it is so unspoilt. A haven for beach lovers and walkers with so many public/permissive walks to be had locally. We went on a long walk up on the Dunwich Heath and visited the National Trust tearooms - a must ! Would very much like to return to this gem of a historic cottage

Mrs B,

A recommended holiday home for a family, in a lovely environment with much to see and do in the Dunwich/Southwold coast and country area, especially for “outdoor” people!

Mr H,

We loved Woodberry Cottage. It is one of those places that makes you smile and feel relaxed in. The garden is beautiful and nicely maintained. The location is wonderful with lovely walks from the door to the Heath, the beach and the village. Lots of muntjac deer, red deer and squirrels. Great for star gazing. It was our first visit to the Suffolk coast and we hope to return and stay in Woodberry Cottage of course!

Previous Customer,

Woodberry Cottage is perfectly situated for exploring this part of Suffolk. It is extremely comfortable, spacious, quirky, well equipped, with a wonderful safe garden for dogs (and children!). A variety of walks from the door can be enjoyed, as can the pub in the village a 15 minute walk away. The owners have made this cottage a home from home and it is obviously well loved. The housekeeping was excellent, as was the gardener.

Ms W,

What a wonderful location in the woods where we saw loads of wildlife. The garden is perfect for green woodpeckers, a grey squirrel, a rabbit and other birds. Everything you need in the cottage and it is very comfortable. We would highly recommend this cottage.

Mrs R,

Woodberry Cottage is beautiful. Set in woodland, it is a perfect retreat. The standard of fixtures and fittings is high. It was unfortunate we had an issue with the hot water supply, which was not resolved for 5 days.

Mrs B,

A beautiful cottage in a wonderful setting making for a very relaxing break. Very well equipped and comfortable. We immediately felt at home and would have liked to stay longer. Will definitely return.

Mrs B,

Really good holiday, property was great for us, had everything we needed and garden is beautiful.

Miss W,

It’s a lovely cottage in a really nice location with a superb garden

Mr C,

Fabulous country cottage which was well equipped in a great location with a secure garden. The beds were comfy and the rooms spacious. Lovely welcome hamper which was a really nice touch. Beach only a 15 minute walk away and The Ship pub close by for great meals and is dog friendly. Would definitely return.

Mrs T,

A very comfortable and well appointed cottage in a great location for walks. Lovely garden and dog friendly.
