Description

The former College Valley School has been lovingly renovated to accommodate four people. The property is fully central heated and carpeted throughout. Outside there is a private enclosed garden (dog proof) with expansive views up the valley to Cheviot. The cottage has a garage and there is plenty of parking space. Dogs are allowed on the hard floored areas in the house. The College Valley is an exceptional place, a magical hidden gem in today's world, once seen never forgotten; twelve cars are granted permits to use the private road system each day so traffic is unlikely to be a problem. The cottages are literally sitting on the foot of the Cheviot Massif in the National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty and a Site of Special Scientific Interest. At night the only light is from the stars and moon. Northumberland National Park Authority, Kielder Water & Forest Park Development Trust and Kielder Observatory Astronomical Society were awarded the title of Northumberland Dark Sky Park in December 2013, making Northumberland, Europe's largest Dark Sky Park. There are wild goats, deer, peregrine, buzzards, ravens, kestrels and many others. If you are quiet you may be lucky enough to see one of the most charming residents, the red squirrel. This is a perfect spot for all the countryside has to offer; walking, fishing, golfing, riding, cycling, bird-watching, historic houses, gardens, churches and castles or for driving the short distance to the coast where there are beautiful beaches, Holy Island and trips to the Farne Islands. Wooler is 10 miles, the village is friendly and offers a wide range of shops selling locally produced meat, bread and vegetables. There are several good pubs and restaurants in the area, nearest bar/restaurant 8 miles.

Can be booked with code 317 Coldburn Cottage, 344 Dunsdale House and 396 Hethpool Mill.

BOOKINGS CAN START ON ANY DAY OF THE WEEK AND LEAVE ANY DAY WITH A MINIMUM LET OF 3 NIGHTS.

Reviews

Fantastic stay. A well put together, cosy cottage. Could not recommend enough

Mr C,

Such a wonderful, cosy little cottage! We loved the open fireplace which was very atmospheric during the windy evenings. The master bed was huge and so comfortable- gorgeous soft pillows and duvet. The location itself is like nothing on earth. Pure, raw, unspoiled nature farther than the eye can see. Incredible for hiking and wildlife watching. Small town (Wooler) 20 minutes drive away with all the necessities. We recommend the Tankerville Arms for a Sunday dinner.

Mrs C,

It was the perfect place to rest and enjoy the peace and quiet. The cottage was spotless and had everything we needed. Thank you.

Mrs M,

Magnificent house and location

Mr S,

A place for peace, quiet and restoration. We enjoyed being away from the hubbub of busy lives. We had lovely long walks and even saw wild goats. There are a lot of sheep and they are everywhere, so be prepared to keep dogs on a lead.

ms W,

Perfect location for walking and climbing in northumberland. Due to the location it would be nice to have a welcome pack with a few essentials like milk and bread.

Miss G,

Couldn't find fault with anything

Mrs Heather L,

We enjoyed the holiday very much ,beautiful location

Ms Gillian F,

If your looking for peace and tranquility this holiday cottage is for you. The backdrop is very picturesque. The cottage was well equipped and presented perfectly. We would book this cottage again.

Mrs Catherine M,

We had a fantastic week in a fantastic location in a fantastic cottage what more could anyone want

Mr Jamie H,

Lovely cottage in a lovely location away from the hussle and bussle of life. No mobile phone signal means you can well and truly recharge your energy levels.

Mr Darren L,

The accommodation, comfort, location and facilities were all outstanding. Cannot recommended highly enough.

Mrs Barbara M,

The cottage was amazing and very reasonable cost-wise. It was fully equipped with most kitchen equipment you would find at home and lovely clean bedding and fluffy towels. It was very warm and cosy too especially once you had the log/coal fire on. It was one of the most relaxing holidays I have been on in a long long time and my two greyhounds loved running around the secure garden. The location was fabulous and on the many rainy November days we could just sit by the fire and look at the hills while watching Netflix. Good Wifi connection which was pretty impressive for its isolated rural location too. We will be back, oh yes, we will be back! :-)

Mrs Cath F,

The cottage was perfect, well equipment and the information from original cottage was excellent.
