Reviews

The property is set in a beautiful location close to the coast and surrounding countryside. It is well equipped, clean and comfortable and we were made very welcome. Little extra touches such as dog treats and a towel were really useful. We had a fantastic holiday and can’t wait to come back.

Mr S,

Redsteads was a lovely place to stay, garden for the dogs and access to the Arboretum before 10.30 We did have problems with heating and hot water but Graham came straight away with electric heaters to help

Mrs A,

This is our second visit to this cottage which is just right for us in the right location. Anna the housekeeper prepares the property superbly and makes sure we are made welcome and leaves us feeling assured should we have any problem. That is why we are returning again in September.

Location

Howick

Howick is a small Northumberland village, sitting just inland from the North Sea, with the majestic ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle to the north, whilst to the south, there are distant views of Coquet Island. A 14 mile coastal footpath between Beadnell and Alnmouth passes nearby providing the opportunity of walking through some of the most outstanding coastal scenery in the country, this part of the Heritage Coast is designated an "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty" as well as being a "Site of Special Scientific Interest". The Coast and Castles cycle route passes nearby.

Nearby Howick Hall Gardens & Arboretum, the ancestral seat of the Earls Grey since 1319, was home to the 2nd Earl Grey, after whom the famous tea is named, the Prime Minister responsible for the passing of the Great Reform Bill of 1832 and whose monument stands at the top of Grey Street in Newcastle upon Tyne. Wander through the beautiful gardens created by the 5th Earl Grey and his family or for the more energetic explore the arboretum, a united nations of shrubs and trees covering over 65 acres. Take a rest from exploring in the Earl Grey Tea House for a bite to eat and a cup of Earl Grey Tea. Craster is 2.5 miles north. Alnwick is 7 miles.
