Description

A fabulous barn conversion on the outskirts of the charming village of Outwell and on the site of an old Benedictine Priory, now part of a small complex of Barns. The site is surrounded by an acre of private land (shared with neighbouring cottages) and quiet lanes for walking and biking and there’s also fishing nearby at Well Creek. Based in a rural location but with Downham Market only 6 miles away, the historic town of Kings Lynn is 19 miles and Ely Cathedral 24 miles away. The village itself is serviced by a small number of shops, restaurants and pubs. For those looking for a day at the beach, Hunstanton is just over 30 miles away and makes a great day out with traditional arcades, beautiful esplanade gardens, boat trips to see seals, the Sea Life Centre and more. If you love historic country houses, the wonderful Oxburgh Hall is 17 miles away and for wildlife lovers, Welney Wetland Centre is 10 miles away.

Step into the open-plan living space which is steeped in natural light, a wonderfully sociable space for spending quality time with your loved ones. The kitchen is equipped with all you’ll need to prepare sumptuous meals. You can choose to perch at the breakfast bar for a quick bite before heading out to explore, or while away the evenings around the dining table. Push open the large bi-folding doors in the lounge area in the warmer months to immerse yourself in seamless indoor/outdoor living. A cloakroom with washing machine, tumble dryer and WC completes this floor. When you're ready to call it a night, head upstairs to one of three thoughtfully decorated bedrooms comprising of two king-size bedrooms and a twin bedroom. The master bedroom boasts panoramic countryside views and en-suite shower room. The roomy family bathroom completes the property.

Outside, your private courtyard is the perfect spot for afternoon lounging, pre-dinner drinks and stargazing from the 6-seater hot tub. Fire up the charcoal BBQ and dine alfresco with a backdrop of rolling fields.

This is a lovely holiday venue. The location is peaceful and has great views over farmland with large windows facing the east receiving bright light. We could watch deer, wild hares and birds from the bedrooms and the living room.The apartment was very comfortable, warm, and had plenty of hot water, and towels for use with the hot tub. The kitchen was well equipped with an electric cooker and oven and a dishwasher. The utility room had a washing machine and a dryer. There were games for the children and the TV had all the relevant channels. The Wi-Fi speed was good . The bedrooms were spacious and the beds comfortable. There were two large bathrooms on the upper floor, and a small toilet on the ground floor.The instructions for entering the property were easy to follow and provided in good time. The owners communicated well. We were very grateful to Amy and her staff for regularly maintaining the hot tub. We would be very happy to book this place again.

Benedict Barn is beautifully furnished & very comfortable. The views are gorgeous. Sitting in the hot tub looking out onto the fields was a highlight. The owners were very friendly & so helpful & kind when we had car trouble & they also left us a delicious hamper including homemade cakes. We had such a lovely week & recommend the property for a relaxing break.

The cottage was impeccably clean. The space is just amazing and open yet cosy and warm. They’ve thought of everything and with homemade very nice cakes on arrival. The hamper was incredibly generous so thank you. The hot tub was epic! Easy to understand instructions for that and everything else. Comfy beds. Comfy sofas. Nice bathrooms and showers. The view out the back is glorious. The only downside is it is near a road that on Friday evening was really busy and full beam headlights. Rest of the weekend it wasn’t busy at all. It’s certainly not a deal breaker with bedroom blinds if you want to use them but helpful to know. Everything was amazing and relaxing and we could have stayed much longer! Hope to return at some point.

Fabulous little break for myself and the family in the lovely Benedict Barn. Beautiful place to stay with lots of attention to details including special towels for the hot tub which we used a lot as the evenings were dark and it was great to look over the fields under the stars. Loved the goody box, doggy treats and Birthday cake. My daughter and I indulged in a very relaxing back massage hosted by Amy. We shall certainly be back again!!!

The views are simply stunning, we had booked a stay at Benedict and were warmly greeted by Amy who made our stay as comfortable as possible.
