Cottages near High Weald AONB

Covering over 360,000 acres of undulating hills across Surrey, Kent and Sussex, the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is the best surviving medieval landscape in all of Northern Europe.

A patchwork of irregular shaped hills, scattered farmsteads, small woodlands and open heaths are all linked and criss-crossed by ancient sunken droveways. This area boasts towns and villages which still display ancient and outstanding buildings, heavily beamed and full of character; evidence of the areas hugely profitable iron production during both Tudor and Roman periods. In dramatic and stunning contrast to the narrow hedged roadways and pocketed fields, lies open and untouched areas such as Ashdown Forest and to the east, the river valleys of Rother, Brede and Tillingham. This diverse and ancient landscape flows down towards the coast, meeting it’s natural boundary at the seaside town of Hastings.

We have an abundance of properties throughout this vast and stunning landscape and all of them are easily accessible from London, by car or train, in a blink of an eye! From town stays in Cranbrook and Battle to the popular, beautiful and historic villages of Biddenham and Goudhurst as well as all manner of barn and oast house conversions dotted in between. One of the lesser known of the UK's many AONB's, this green and lush garden is waiting to be explored and we’re certain you’ll find the perfect cottage here in High Weald for you to start your adventure.
