Holiday Cottages in Dorset
A mix of the very old and the very new make Dorset a very memorable place to visit.
Dorset is a county chock-full of things to do. On the south border is the Jurassic Coast, England’s natural UNESCO World Heritage Site. These amazing cliffs display 185 million years of geology, and the long stretch of beach is a great place to find fossils, enjoy the sea views or simply marvel at this unique insight into the history of the Earth.
It’s a county perfect for walking, and the miles and miles of footpaths and bridleways that criss-cross Dorset will take you through some spectacular countryside that has barely changed since the time of Thomas Hardy. The villages are still picturesque with thatched cottages and narrow winding roads, and the downs, heaths and woodland make for some extremely pleasant exploring.
Not only is Dorset full of natural beauty, it can offer up an excellent collection of activities to keep all ages entertained. A day out at Corfe Castle is one not to be passed up; the 1000 year old castle sits proudly overlooking the picturesque village of Corfe and offers a unique glimpse into the history of the Norman conquest.
In Weymouth the Sea Life Adventure Park is a firm family favourite. Catch a glimpse of over 1000 creatures ranging from sharks and sea turtles to crocodiles and penguins. While at the park you can also book your ticket for Weymouth Tower, offering you a unique view of the Jurassic coastline from 174ft above ground.
