Dog friendly cottages in the Peak District and Derbyshire

Derbyshire and the Peak District is famed for its fantastic landscapes. It was this wonderful countryside that inspired Britain’s first national park! And what better way to explore it than on one of the myriads of walks accompanied by your dog.

You are bound to enjoy places like Dovedale, crossing the stepping stones if you dare and then wandering along the banks of the river while your four-legged friend goes for a swim.

There are footpaths and trails galore but make sure that one day you get up onto Curbar Edge or one of the other fantastic gritstone edges. Let your dog run wild along the tops while you just gaze at the breath-taking views over wave after wave of Peak District hills.

When your feet and paws get tired you can always stop off for lunch in a local pub or restaurant. Many of them serve great food and a good pint too, and make pets really welcome.

Over 30 of our cottages accept pets ranging from the small one-bedroom properties to the large family retreats accommodating 12 guests plus your four-legged friend or friends.

If it is just you and your dog you might like little Farriers Cottage in Ilam near Ashbourne. You will all revell in the ‘Paradise Walk’ along the banks of the river in Manifold Dale.

For a family holiday there is always Field Barn Cottage in Matlock. On the edge of lovely countryside, the kids can have great adventures in the woods and the dog will enjoy them even more.

When it’s a whole family retreat or reunion, where the dog or dogs undoubtedly come too, there are few better places than Yew Tree Cottage in Darley Dale or Post Cottage in Beeley on the edge of Chatsworth Park.
