Derbyshire and the Peak District is one of the most dog-friendly regions in Britain. Between the multitude of pet-friendly pubs, doggy boutiques and a whole national park on your doorstep, there is certainly no shortage of treats in store for you and your dog when you visit Derbyshire and the Peak District.

Our dog-friendly cottages are packed full of treats too. You don’t have to rough it either, even with a pet in tow, as many of our luxury homes are dog-friendly and perfect for posh pooches.

Available for short breaks and long holidays, pre-planned for months trips or last minute getaways, our fabulous range of Derbyshire dog-friendly homes and ready and waiting for you.

Dog-Friendly Things to Do in Derbyshire and the Peak District

Aside from roaming the hills, rocks and caverns of the Peak District National Park, there is a great variety of pet-friendly cottages to do across the region. In Bakewell and the Eastern area of the Peak District, you simply must stop by Barks and Co to pick up a treat for your dog before strolling round the town where you’re bound to see plenty of other four-legged friends.

Nearby Baslow is also incredibly dog-friendly, particularly when it comes to eateries. The Devonshire Arms (not to be confused with the hotel), has a proper ‘pub grub’ menu and welcomes dogs inside and out. The Robin Hood, also in Baslow, has a great range of breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea offerings. Both pubs are near to the Chatsworth Estate, which has lots of walking routes that are very popular with dog walkers.

Travel south or stay in Matlock, Ashbourne or elsewhere to discover the historic Derwent Valley with your dog. One of the most popular dog walking spots in south Derbyshire is Carsington Water, which has a 7.5 mile circular walk that is perfect for a long, relaxing stroll. Crich Tramway Village, also near Matlock, is home to the National Tram Museum. Dogs are allowed to ride the trams and there are plenty of dog-friendly shops nearby as well as a woodland walk and sculpture trail.

Speaking of trams, one of Buxton’s most popular dog-friendly attractions is the Buxton Tram. The tram tours around Buxton and gives you the chance to stop off at Poole’s Cavern and Buxton Country Park. Great for older dogs who want to see the sights but take a rest from walking. If you choose a cottage in or near Buxton, you and your dog will also be in a great spot to explore Castleton, Tideswell and Monyash.
