Description

A charming, traditional Purbeck cottage originally built in the 1800s as part of a row of cottages for stonemasons working in the local quarries. The cottage has been sympathetically renovated over the years and retains plenty of period charm with the benefits of modern living.

Downstairs the cosy living room has comfortable seating, a traditional fire place with the convenience of an electric fire and views towards Ballard Down. The kitchen/diner has all you need for a family of four and leads through to a large boot room with storage space, downstairs bathroom and stable door leading to the rear courtyard garden.

Upstairs are two well-presented bedrooms, the master bedroom at the front overlooks the town and benefits from sea views whilst at the rear there’s a twin bedroom.

Situated in an elevated position above Swanage High Street but tucked back from the hustle and bustle, the town centre and sandy beach are within a 10-minute walk. The cottage can be accessed from the High Street via an original set of stone steps, or for a flatter route from the rear of the property using the back road.

There’s a small front garden laid to grass; although it has shared access with the neighbouring cottages, the owners have thoughtfully gated it to allow a sense of privacy and for the benefit of any four-legged guests.

A stable door leads out to a small but pretty rear courtyard with seating and shared access to a neighbouring cottage. A gated path leads out to Priests Road with on street parking.

Please note due to the nature of being a traditional cottage, the stairway is narrow and steep and therefore unsuitable for children under the age of 5 and those with reduced mobility. If in doubt, please call the office to discuss.

Reviews

Lovely cosy cottage. A home from home with a few plusses! Great views and a short scientific walk to the sea front.

Mrs S,

A lovely stay at Sparrow Cottage. Clean, comfortable with e writhing you need for a break away from home. Would recommend.

Mr E,

We found this to be a very comfortable, cosy cottage with all necessary amenities for our short stay. It's within walking distance to the town and the sea front, and also to King George's playing field which was useful for early morning dog walks. The small front terrace garden is perfectly equipped for breakfast and tea al fresco, with fine views across towards the downs. The interior is clean, comfortable and peaceful.

Mr S,

Everything was of good clean standard. Beds very comfortable and property well equipped
