Access Statement

This cottage is the original part of the main building, dating back to 1760. Because of its age and structure it is not wheelchair friendly. There is only one entrance from a sunken concrete yard; five steps with handrails each side lead you up to an unloading area of crazy paving, beyond which lies a large gravelled yard. The ground floor is all on one level; entrance hall and kitchen with quarry tiles. Leading off the hall is the large carpeted living room. A staircase with a handrail leads from the living room to a large bedroom of character which is carpeted. The ensuite shower, EC and hand basin area are tiled.

Description

Old Vicarage Cottage is a gorgeous property that is bursting with character and history, with parts of the property dating back to the 18th century. It retains some lovely original beams, and a huge inglenook fireplace, with the original smoker and oven on either side. A real focal point in the living area of this cottage. The property is attached at the rear of the owner’s former vicarage home, in extensive landscaped gardens, in the village of Llangeler, just 10 miles from the West Wales coast. The beautiful market towns of Newcastle Emlyn and Llandysul, on the banks of the River Teifi, are both within easy reach. Take a walk around the vast gardens that are bustling with wildlife and flowers, and catch a glimpse of the Red Kites and Sparrow Hawk that are often flying high above. The garden offers numerous areas to sit and relax, taking in the aromas and stunning sights of the flowers and trees that bloom throughout the year. In the evening, enjoy an al-fresco glass of wine in the gardens, underneath the night sky where you are spoilt with the view of thousands of stars, undisturbed by any light pollution. Damsel and Dragonflies are a real delight to watch by the pond. Just at the end of the lane, we have 'Gwili Pottery' where you are able to go throw and paint your own pots. We have many items from Gwili Pottery dotted around the house.

Entrance: into a glazed porch.

Living Room: traditionally furnished with three piece suite, wood burning stove in the inglenook fireplace (logs are supplied for the first evening), WiFi, Smart TV, dining table, and three chairs. Underfloor heating in living room.

Kitchen: accessed via the glazed porch, with electric cooker, fridge, freezer, slim dishwasher and washing machine.

Staircase rising from the living room.

Bedroom: with impressive A-frame beam, double bed, antique furniture, full of charm and character.

En Suite: with shower cubicle, WC and basin

Outside: patio area with garden furniture. Guests are also welcome to explore the owner’s beautiful one-acre garden with several seating areas, pond (unfenced and uncovered), insect house etc.

Parking: plenty of parking a few metres from the cottage.

This is an excellent location for a quiet break, ideal for exploring West Wales, great for walking its numerous beaches, scenic countryside and spectacular waterfalls. Local fishing and canoeing on the River Teifi. Explore Cenarth Falls. There are numerous things to do, such as visiting local distilleries, or go cheese making, with all manner of crafts, glass, baskets from local grown willow eetc. You really are spoilt for choice here.

Reviews

Thanks again for a lovely stay. The cottage is lovely, well equipped and in a very peaceful location. The grounds are amazing and having an opportunity to see the pictures of how the house and gardens were developed shows a true labour of love by Pixie and her family. We have had a great time exploring the area and beyond albeit with a couple of tail end of hurricanes to put a dampener literally on the weather. Given so, nothing better to experience the force of nature and did not hinder us in getting out and about. Thanks for a lovely stay and also to Pixie who even in bad weather is ensuring the gardens are looking magnificent.

Previous Customer,

Very peaceful setting in beautiful surroundings. A garden paradise with interesting areas to explore or relax in. Llengeler is within easy reach of many interesting places along the west coast. The owners are delightful and made our stay very special. We hope to be able to return in the not too distant future.

Mr R,

The heating and hot water was stated as included but was in fact controlled by the owner in the adjoining property. This was not a problem but in the winter months could be a bit awkward. The property only had one means of escape from the building. I would suggest a fire door should be fitted between the kitchen and the entrance door. None of the upper floor windows were labelled as emergency exit windows I would suggest clear labels be shown on escape windows if they can be used as escape windows. I do not recommend holiday destinations or cottages to friends or family as my idea of a good holiday may not be someone else’s idea of a great holiday.

Mr William S,

We've had a fabulous week in this lovely comfortable cottage. We've really enjoyed the beautiful garden and our evening aperitifs in the pond garden. Done some great walks including Llansteffan, Dinas Island, and Aberaeron/Aberarth. Seen some great wildlife including lots of red kites, a peregrine and a dolphin. Friday was very wet and windy, so kept us inside, but apart from that we got out walking every day. Thank you!

Mr Kevin S,

We have had a wonderful week enjoying this beautiful cottage and the surrounding area. Claire, Paul and Pixie have been such lovely hosts, kind and generous beyond measure - and walking around the garden and talking with Pixie has been a real privilege, she is such a unique person. Our thanks and best wishes to you all.
