Whitby is a popular choice for visitors all year round. It is well known for its long sandy beach and delicious seafood. For a different day out, why not climb the famous 199 steps to reach the ruins of Whitby Abbey. It's said to have been the inspiration for Bram Stokers Count Dracula, and its gothic splendour is the perfect place from which to take in some truly stunning views over the town.

Whitby harbour is steeped in history and visitors can see where British explorer Captain James Cook first worked as an apprentice before setting sail and discovering Australia. The harbour is a buzz of activity and you can enjoy early mornings watching the fishing boats come ashore before getting first choice of their catch. There's always something happening throughout the town , and festivals and fairs are held throughout the year including Whitby Goth Festival, Whitby Folk Week and the Whitby Regatta.

Reviews

High standard

Mr N,

A warm comfortable property and very conveniently situated. It is a real boon to have two toilets combined with bath or shower. If we could fly the bungalow to Rotherham we would live in it.

Mr R,

A lovely bungalow only a few minutes walk to the town centre. Modern and well equipped with adequate parking, we recommend this property.

Mr C,

Enjoyed staying in Walebeck was very comfortable, warm and cosy. Great location for Whitby town.

Mrs E,

Visited Walebeck many times. You can leave the car for a week and take a 5 minute walk to the harbour and use the local buses. The bungalow is always clean, warm and comfortable

Mrs C,

Convenient location. Good parking. Clean and pleasant

Mrs S,

Excellent accommodation throughout with good parking and central location.

Mr R,

Walebeck is a really lovely little bungalow within walking distance to the harbour. It's quite a steep slope up and down to the harbour so might not suit everyone. The driveway parking was a godsend. It's very nicely decorated and the reclining sofas were very comfortable. It's nice to have a garden to sit out in and also get your washing dry so you don't have to take home bags of dirty clothes. It's a very quiet location and we all slept really well and would recommend a stay here.

Mrs G,

Been to this bungalow 4 times before already booked for 2024 Big plus off road parking and recent alterations make it very nice

Mr Michael A,

Quietly surprised how close to the harbour Walebeck is. Using the steps at the side of the police station makes a great short cut to town or the harbour just a 3 to 4 minute walk, brilliant location. Walebeck was very clean and well equipped covering all our needs if we wanted to eat in. Co-Op and Heron stores local to the bungalow. Bus to Middlesbrough, Redcar, Saltburn, Robin Hoods Bay and Scarborough parked the car and used the bus everywhere all week couldn't have worked out any better even the weather was kind to us. We were a party of 4 Adults (2 couples friends for many years) Walebeck was more than comfortable for us or a Family of 4. Great views of the Whitby Abbey and a sea view. Room on the drive for our 2 cars, an excellent all around stay.

Mr H,

Excellent cottage, centrally located. Everything was in the property that could possibly be needed! Tea/biscuits and milk was a lovely touch too!

Mrs H,

Well situated for access to Whitby, a short, steep walk down to the harbour. Extremely clean property and very comfortable. My only complaint would be the lack of a curtain in the double bedroom, just vertical blinds. The view from the property of the Abbey and Church, with a glimpse of the sea, is really superb. Off road parking was a huge benefit.

Mrs H,

Enjoyed our stay lovely and modern clean with some nice touches. Very close to town great view and quiet location.

Miss Allison W,

Brilliant property although very hard to get to via the over crowded streets full of cars. I’m a continental car driver. It’s a brilliant spot. The view everything! The beds are wee bit hard for some people with arthritis. Maybe a few touches for handicapped or older folks like hand rails in shower/bath. It’s a beautiful home one could live there! I forgot to sign the book but a fabulous rental spot! House is excellent.

Ms Karyn D,

Home from home and did what it said on the tin

Mr M S,

High quality accommodation and furnishings. Excellent position and access to town .Initially quite difficult to find but perhaps that was down to my map reading skills. would definitely recommend.

Mrs Helen H,

Very professional service, but very friendly, bungalow, equipment ,furniture and cleanliness first class, parking on drive a bonus, would recommend to anyone for a Whitby holiday, excellent position

Mr Alan C,

One of the cleanest properties we have stayed in. Everything we needed was available and of good quality. Not far to walk into Whitby.

Mrs Judith B,

We had a lovely stay. Bungalow spotless. Little extras very welcoming. It was very cosy & relaxing stay here, close to harbour and town centre and a short cut down the steps near the Police Station brought us down near the train and bus station. Will be coming back.

Past Customer,

We had a lovely 7 day stay. The bungalow is lovely, in a great location and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. A home from home, We wouldn't hesitate to book again.

Past Customer,

What a lovely cottage. We had a lovely few days thank you and it was great to come back to a nice, warm cosy cottage.

Past Customer,

Perfect - Warm, spotless, well equipped, amazing quality, fantastic location. We would definitely come back again and recommend. Thank you.

Past Customer,

Easy booking system and excellent communications. The property exceeded our expectations and we wouldn’t hesitate to return if we holiday in the area again.

Mr Robert F,

Just a lovely cosy home from home stay. Walking distance to town centre.

Mr John S,

We were very pleased with the standard of service prior to our visit and the property was exceptional in all aspects

Mrs Helen S,

There was limited equipment in the kitchen to enable anyone to cook a full meal. Only one small prep knife and not enough crockery to enable effective use of dishwasher.Could do with more tins/trays to use in the oven.We have stayed at this property ver the last four/five years and the beds and bedding in the twin room could do with renewing. Tase comments are in no wa a complaint, just comments on what could be improved. This is already a very pleasant place to stay. Always clean, warm and comfortable

Mrs Linda C,

Beautiful extremely clean property with fantastic view and easy access to Whitby on foot, parking perfect, efficient booking service and staff

Miss Suzanne B,
