Reviews

We had a very enjoyable stay here, it was a great holiday home.

Mr H,

Beautiful property, like home from home! Everything we needed for our week away was provided. Bedrooms, lounge area and kitchen was all to an excellent standard. Nice patio area with seating and BBQ if desired. Perfect location for a walk into the town of Whitby, hoping to return some point next year. Very clean and a big thank you to the cleaners and owners of Turnbull View.

Mr F,

situated on west cliff, a short walk to the beach, quite a steep climb back up thoughand the lift is always out of service. the house offers everything you need, washing machine, dishwasher, stair gates, big towels, a decent shower, nice bathtub, parking on site, the kitchen has everything you need for a nice meal. have been twice with 4 children loved it.

Mrs D,

Turnbull View is a beautiful home from home. It has everything you could need for your holiday. Very well presented, clean, comfortable and it has a lovely secluded patio area for alfresco dining. It is within easy walking distance to the town centre which has numerous pubs, restaurants and cafes. We would definitely return to this home again.

Mrs L C,

First impressions very clean & homely. Nice welcome pack. Couldn't ask for more. A real home from home. Very children friendly. Our kids loved it. Good location for local amenities. Everything anyone could wish for. Can't wait to come back 10/10.

Past Customer,

What a lovely house - highly recommend and would stay her again. We come to Whitby as a family a lot and have found a gem of a house here. Everything you want and more under one roof.

Past Customer,

What a gem of a house, we have loved our stay a great base to explore the local area. One day we will come back.

Past Customer,

Turnbull View is an excellent holiday property and was immaculately clean. A leisurely walking pace gets you to either the Whalebone Arch on the West Cliff, or to the eastern end of the swing bridge in town in about 15 minutes. There is private easy parking for 2 cars adjacent to the front door of the property (though we only had one). All routes out of Whitby are very easy without needing to negotiate the town traffic which can be busy at times. We would (and probably will) book this property again and have no hesitation in recommending it.

Mr B,

Always book with the same company and have been to this location over 4 times.

Miss Heather B,

Very clean, tidy, well equipped and warm which was needed in January. Bonus having combo boiler to easily fill the luxurious bath.

Mr C,

Very comfortable property and very well equipped. Pretty little garden and off road parking is a huge bonus. Convenient location, within easy walking distance of Whitby town centre and Sandsend.

Mrs M,

Location

Whitby
Whitby is a popular choice for visitors all year round. It is well known for its long sandy beach and delicious seafood. The river Esk flows through the town to the sea and cottages are perched on the hills on each side, with cobbled streets and historic yards providing a maze of places to explore. The town has a fantastic mix of modern shops and services, traditional stores and boutique shops. Whitby jet continues to be made into beautiful jewellery and sold in a number of shops.  There are plenty of excellent restaurants which serve local fish and seafood, as well as a wonderful choice of cafes and tearooms.

The ruins of Whitby Abbey standdominantly on the clifftop and can be reached by climbing the 199 steps from the old town. The Abbey is said to have been the inspiration for Bram Stoker's novel Count Dracula, and its gothic splendour is the perfect place from which to take in some truly stunning views over the town, harbour and coastline. Whitby harbour is steeped in history and visitors can see where British explorer Captain James Cook first worked as an apprentice before setting sail and discovering Australia. A statue of this great explorer stands proudly above the town, along with some huge whalebones, a sign of the town's maritime history. The harbour is a buzz of activity and you can enjoy early mornings watching the fishing boats come ashore before getting first choice of their catch of the day.

There's always something happening throughout the town, with festivals and fairs are held throughout the year. These include Whitby Folk Week and the Whitby Regatta, and there are two popular Goth festivals each year. For more information on Whitby and the surrounding area and local events see our Yorkshire Coast Guide and the Festivals & Events Guide.
