Reviews

What a beautiful home from home!! So close to Whitby we ended up there at least 3 times a day!! Our greyhound Roxy loved the garden and the beautiful walks!! We will definitely be booking again!!

Mr W,

The property is in a quiet area with very nice neighbours and close to Sainsbury’s and other small shopping facilities. Also it is close to Penny Hedge which is a Marstons restaurant and accommodation property. They do very nice food and the decor of the inside is pleasant. It’s 5/6 minutes from town and all that Whitby has to offer.

Mrs D,

The property was very good, clean and comfortable and the garden was absolutely beautiful - all credit to the gardener. Although the spec said towels were provided, there were no hand towels! I would have left a review in the book but I had no pen with me and couldn’t find one in the house.

Ms May M,

Where I have scored less was because the kitchen equipment was lacking.

Mr David E,

We had an extremely good holiday. Heather house was excellent and in a good location

Mrs Caroline M,

Great place to stay... easy bus route.. local pub walking distance... and lots to see

Mrs Sandra C,

The cottage was what I would describe as 'superficially clean', in that all the main surfaces and floors etc were spotless. However, on arrival there was a mouldy bag of potatoes in a cupboard and some of the baking trays in the kitchen cupboards were coated in grease, meaning that I had to wash some things before use. Also, on arrival the heating had been turned off, giving the place a cold, unwelcoming feel and there was no hot water available either. There was no information as to how to rectify this, so I needed to do a bit of guesswork/detective work on the evening of our arrival. Other than that, we were very pleased with the house and garden, and we would certainly consider staying there again if visiting Whitby.

Mr Paul R,

Everything was perfect, altho windy we had a lovely break and the neighbours were so friendky and helpful. Sadly our mum died while we were there but we would def stay again

Mrs Sharon K,

Location

Whitby
Whitby is a popular choice for visitors all year round. It is well known for its long sandy beach and delicious seafood. The river Esk flows through the town to the sea and cottages are perched on the hills on each side, with cobbled streets and historic yards providing a maze of places to explore. The town has a fantastic mix of modern shops and services, traditional stores and boutique shops. Whitby jet continues to be made into beautiful jewellery and sold in a number of shops.  There are plenty of excellent restaurants which serve local fish and seafood, as well as a wonderful choice of cafes and tearooms.

The ruins of Whitby Abbey stand dominantly on the clifftop and can be reached by climbing the 199 steps from the old town. The Abbey is said to have been the inspiration for Bram Stoker's novel Count Dracula, and its gothic splendour is the perfect place from which to take in some truly stunning views over the town, harbour and coastline. Whitby harbour is steeped in history and visitors can see where British explorer Captain James Cook first worked as an apprentice before setting sail and discovering Australia. A statue of this great explorer stands proudly above the town, along with some huge whalebones, a sign of the town's maritime history. The harbour is a buzz of activity and you can enjoy early mornings watching the fishing boats come ashore before getting first choice of their catch of the day.

There's always something happening throughout the town, with festivals and fairs are held throughout the year. These include Whitby Folk Week and the Whitby Regatta, and there are two popular Goth festivals each year.
