Description

This characterful two-storey cottage, overlooking Westleton village green, is the perfect location for a relaxing holiday. The property is well situated for exploring both Suffolk’s countryside as well as its coastal attractions. The town of Dunwich with its museum and shingle beach is less than 3 miles away, while Aldeburgh and the popular seaside town of Southwold with its independent shops, colourful beach huts and pier are 9.5 and 9 miles respectively. Alternatively, there are plenty of walking and birdwatching opportunities along the Heritage Coast with RSPB Minsmere just 3 miles away and coastal heaths and forests to explore. The village of Westleton itself has a village store, tearoom and two great pubs if you fancy a night off from the cooking.

This is a beautiful cottage that retains many of its traditional features and combines them seamlessly with an elegant and stylish interior. The lounge is homely with comfortable easy chairs, plenty of natural light, an open fire and TV. The spacious kitchen and dining area is a bright and inviting space and offers everything you need to prepare your favourite dishes and dine in style. From here, French doors open onto a small, paved patio area and the rear garden. The property benefits from a cosy single bedroom and a handy shower room on the ground floor. A cottage-style staircase leads to the first floor, where there is a second bathroom and a king-size bedroom which overlooks the village green.

Step outside to discover an enchanting, multi-level secluded rear garden with patio and seating, and a small patio area at the front of the house overlooking the village green, both perfect for an al fresco drink in fine weather.

Westleton is a pretty village midway between Aldeburgh and Southwold, with the coast at Dunwich only two and a half miles away. Centred around a large green, Westleton is one of the most popular places to stay on the Heritage Coast. It is an ideal base for walking, bird watching, cycling and closely located to Minsmere, as well as the coastal heaths and forests. There are two good pubs, a second-hand book shop and a well-stocked village store/post office - all in the village centre. Much of the area around the village is accessible open heath or mixed woodland, ideal for walkers and there is a new, lottery funded playground.

Reviews

Minsmere is walkable as well as other lovely local walks. The White Horse is a very friendly local. Everyone we met in the village was very friendly too.
