Description

Stunning sea views from this cottage make it a special place for holidays. The tidy Victorian terraced property sits just across from the National Trust headland of Morte Point with spectacular coastal views across to Hartland Point and out to Lundy Island. These views can also be enjoyed from the front area of decking where patio furniture gives the option for al fresco dining. There are also attractive countryside views from the rear as the cottage backs on to National Trust land. The roomy living area has a traditional stone fireplace with attractive brick trim creating an eye-catching focal point while the compact but functional kitchen is towards the rear of this open plan area. Beyond the kitchen is another patio area.

Mortehoe Heritage Centre recounts the area's rich maritime history. Mortehoe is the starting point for many scenic walks along this dramatic stretch of coastline. Just north of the village, and reached only on foot, is Rockham Beach lying at the base of the 100 foot cliff; an ideal location for a peaceful day on the sand. Another great beach nearby is Barricane beach just on the outskirts of the village. It’s a sandy cove perfect for families with low ledges that are great for jumping off. There’s also the wonderful, but seasonal, Barricane Beach café, serving up the distinctly un-Devon flavours of Sri Lanka. A short drive south takes you to Woolacombe, which has three miles of award-winning golden sands. Its beach has been voted number one in the UK by TripAdvisor guests for the last two years. It also holds the England For Excellence Gold Award for best family resort and was voted the Best British Beach in the Mail On Sunday. Lifeguards ensure safe swimming during the summer. However it’s not just the beach that brings visitors to Woolacombe. There's a wide selection of restaurants, teashops and bars

Reviews

We loved staying at Seaview cottage in Mortehoe. Lovely views of the sea every morning and we enjoyed walking the coastal paths to Lee bay or Woolacombe. There are two pubs close by where we had good meals and a few handy shops to get a few items. Would love to stay here again.

Mrs W,

Don't look anywhere else this is a hidden gem, five minutes to the beach, fantastic views great walks, dog-friendly, homemade takeaway food, fish and chips, and pubs two minutes away, shop and post office everything you need in one place

Mr Gary L,

Wonderful location, lovely cottage. Only small points which I give her incase they're of use; we were unable to open the sash windows to any extent (perhaps they're meant to be like that?) and the decking in the back yard needs repair- rotten in places with nail heads protruding so not good for dog paws or bare feet. Otherwise wonderful. Thank you very much.

Miss Kim H,

The location of the property was superb and exactly as advertised. The views from Seaview are spectacular. The property could do with some refurbishment downstairs, but all in all we had an absolutely wonderful week away.

Miss Lisa W,

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at seaview cottage. The highlights were -the location which included a fantastic view of the sea, the wood burner which we used each day, the fabulous walks surrounding us and easy access to Woolacombe beach.
