Description

Quay Cottage retains many of its original period features and enjoys an idyllic location close to the delightful harbour area of Ilfracombe. This charming 19th century terraced home is approached from a private gated lane. There are 9 up to the attractive front patio and main entrance. There is a large roomy open plan lounge dining room with oak beams, panelled walls and a brick fireplace featuring a coal effect electric fire. With the cottage enjoying an elevated position it has views over the harbour in the direction of Hillsborough. The up to date kitchen is an attractive cream with beech worktops and a breakfast bar. The main bathroom is downstairs with a tidy white suite. Upstairs you will find beautifully presented double bedroom with en-suite shower room and a stylish twin room. The cottage is walking distance from the town's main attractions. Ilfracombe has a delightful mix of Victorian and Regency architecture, pretty harbour, independent shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs. The harbour, with Damien Hirst’s infamous bronze statue Verity, and the Tunnels Beaches, are well worth a visit along with the award-winning Ilfracombe Aquarium, fascinating Ilfracombe Museum, Larkstone Leisure Park, Hele Cornmill and Chambercombe Manor - one of Britain's most haunted houses. A short drive away is Exmoor National Park, which has Europe’s very first International Dark Sky Reserve, the tallest tree in England, the highest cliffs in England, almost 250 species of bird and over 1,000 different flowering plants and grasses, the highest number of wild red deer in England and wild native ponies, perfectly adapted to the upland conditions of Exmoor. A short drive east along the coast takes you to Lynmouth and Lynton. These villages are connected by a 900 foot high water powered cliff railway. Lynton at the top of the track is known as Little Switzerland

Reviews

We have stayed in this cottage several times for us it is in a perfect position and is fully equipped with everything we require, it is also spotlessly clean. Can not fault it.

Mr H,

The property was well equipped and more than comfortable. Convenient location for shops, eateries and harbour. Parking nearby and permit issued by the owners - this allows you to park at other car parks which are on a list in the cottage. We had 4 adults in the property with ease. A very enjoyable stay.
