Description

A pretty beachside bolthole just a stone’s throw from the sea! Pilots House is in the coastal town of Aldeburgh, close to the shops and pubs.

This striking bay fronted holiday home is over two floors offering cosy family accommodation for four guests. The two bedrooms are upstairs, beautifully furnished with plenty of storage space and lovely views. The living accommodation is on the ground floor- the sitting room has a couple of comfortable sofas and a feature brick fireplace housing a gas effect wood burning stove (perfect for the cooler months) and a dining table and chairs in the bay window. The cottage style kitchen has all the usual appliances including a dishwasher and a washer dryer. A lovely feature of this room are the French doors which open up onto a pretty enclosed courtyard garden, a lovely place to sit and relax at any time of day…

Aldeburgh is the quintessential seaside town on the Suffolk coast with stylish shops, cafes, delis and prom. Be sure to pick up some fish and chips and picnic on the beach!

The area has some great cycling and walking routes and trails so there’s something for everyone… look out for Maggi Hambling’s iconic Scallop Shell on your travels.

Shop 100 yards. Pub 200 yards. Beach 100 yards.

Aldeburgh and the surrounding area has inspired many authors and poets in the past but the most famous son of the town is Benjamin Britten who founded the Aldeburgh Music Festival which now has worldwide acclaim and is held every year in June at Snape Maltings. Fishermen still pull their colourful boats up on the shingle beach and sell fresh fish from the picturesque huts. The wide, mainly Georgian high street has many attractive buildings whilst the seafront properties all have commanding views of the beach and the North Sea. Boating is popular on the nearby Alde estuary where a large variety of yachts can be seen at summer weekends.

Reviews

Lovely cottage with great location in heart of the town. Well equipped and clean and tidy.

Mr B,

Really comfortable, well located cottage close to everything you need. Lovely to see the see from the back bedroom

Mrs B,

A lovely cottage on the High Street, very close to restaurants, pubs, shops and only a few minutes walk to the beach. Very quiet, despite being on the High Street. We will be staying here again.

Mrs W,

Have used them for many years..A few sheets of instructions for cooker etc were missing.

Mrs Vanessa D,

Good location, clean and cosy cottage, the welcome pack was very nice. Toilet downstairs should be advised about as difficult for older or less able people. The electrics tripped twice, the toaster is partially broken and the bedroom door only shuts after pulling hard due to sticking on carpet.and the tv upstairs has no signal so redundant,I have noted these in the maintenance book.Without these faults I would have given top marks.

Mr Michael N,

Grubby, poorly equipped, very tired property. Obvious lack of investment with oven not working, window blinds broken and general air of neglect. Even the milk provided in the welcome pack was a week past BBE date. Not impressed.

Mr Philip M,

Lovely cosy little house and location with some thoughtful touches.

Mrs Caroline B,
