Description

The owners of this stylish modern cottage have put much thought into equipping and furnishing their property to ensure the comfort and pleasure of their visitors making it the perfect base for a small family or couple looking for a Cornish break. Bay Tree Cottage enjoys an enclosed private patio garden to the rear, lined with mature shrubs and is tucked away in a quiet cul de sac just a short walk from the centre of Padstow where a variety of shops, galleries and eating places lie waiting to be discovered. Although Padstow is a busy fishing port, it enjoys the most amazing scenery in whichever direction you decide to venture, either inland along the famous Camel Trail or out towards Stepper Point at the mouth of the estuary and beyond following the coastal footpath south. A short drive takes you to several superb sandy, surfing beaches only a mile or two down the road.  Overlooking the town is Prideaux Place, the historic and fascinating Elizabethan manor house and home of the Prideaux-Brune family, which is open to visitors during the summer season.

Mrs Susan H,

Location

Padstow is arguably now one of the best-known of Cornwall's holiday destinations- a working harbour still retaining the character of the fishing industry while also managing to reinvent itself as a modern holiday destination. Padstow has so much to offer the discerning holiday maker, with several beaches along the Camel Estuary, where you can also have a go at a range of water sports such as sailing and windsurfing, as well as a variety of boat trips such as fishing excursions, speedboat rides, sea-life safaris and the ever popular Jubilee Queen. You can indulge your passion for food at an excellent selection of restaurants in the town, which is now the base for a number of celebrity chefs including Rick Stein and Paul Ainsworth.  If you're looking for more active pursuits, you can cycle the Camel Trail, the route of the old railway line running between Padstow and Bodmin.  If walking is more your thing, there are many walking trails and routes waiting to be discovered, and if you're bringing a dog, there are plenty of dog-friendly places to explore. Gaining popularity in recent years is the Padstow Christmas Festival, now spread over four days, with cookery demonstrations, food and craft market, and entertainment.
