Description

Love Cottage sits in an enviable position almost as close as you can get to the picturesque bay without putting your toes in the water. It is one of three properties at Saltdene, Combe Martin, which includes the owners' home Ancient Thatch Cottage, a 16th Century Grade II Listed cottage, and Gardeners Cottage which is also available to let and sleeps two, along with Love Cottage.

The three properties sit in four and a half acres of stunning meadow and woodland, the grounds overlooking Combe Martin Bay. Newberry Beach is slightly smaller than Coombe Martin main beach and is a stone's throw from the bottom of the drive. This popular village oozes history and offers a good choice of pubs, restaurants, tea rooms and shops, which are pretty much on the doorstep. The South West Coast Path runs past Saltdene with breathtaking walks and views along the dramatic Devon coast. A short drive takes you to the twin villages of Lynton and Lynmouth linked by the famous funicular water powered cliff railway.

The cottage makes full use of all the available space with a vaulted ceiling and exposed beams. The front door opens into the double bedroom which has an en-suite shower room. The other room is the kitchen, dining room and lounge. It opens out through a low door to a small decked patio with views of the meadow which overlooks Combe Martin Bay. Due to the cottage's coastal location, guests are advised to keep pets on a lead when enjoying outdoor space as part of the boundary is made up of sea cliffs. Up from Combe Martin beach is the well-known Grade II Listed Pack O’ Cards Inn and there is also a general store/post office in the village. Combe Martin is well known for its Wildlife and Dinosaur Park – a 28-acre attraction that encourages respect for the natural world. As well as lions, wolves, sea lions, monkeys, wallabies, exotic birds and more, the park is well known for its impressive life sized animatronic dinosaurs. Just a leisurely 30 minute drive away, you will discover the area’s three surfing resorts – Woolacombe, Saunton and Croyde; while very close by is Exmoor National Park with the tallest tree in England

Reviews

Love Cottage is an ideal base, warm and comfortable to come back to after a day out, the view from the patio is fantastic and it’s only a short walk to the beach and shops yet at the same time it is quiet and peaceful. Lovely to find a welcome pack of goodies and also that basics such as hand soap, washing up liquid, tea bags etc. were supplied. Would go back to stay again any time!

Mrs W,

Absolutely beautiful cottage in a great location.Beach and great walks on the doorstep and lovely couple of pubs in the village with very friendly regulars.

Really nice stay, highlyrecommended

Mr R,

Love Cottage is excellent in so many respects. Its location overlooking the sea and close to the village with all its amenities is very convenient. Bruce and Elaine have made such a good job with the conversion of an out building into a warm, cosy cottage. It is amazing. Very well equipped with quality fittings and fixtures it was a joy to stay for a week. Well done.

Mr K,

Love Cottage is a very comfortable and clean accommodation. Upon arrival we were met by the owner and a lovely welcome package was left for us. The property itself is small but perfectly set out. There is a small decked area and enclosed grassed area with fabulous views to the beach and sea, with the sound of the waves. Very dog friendly and Newberry beach allows dogs. Combe Martin is a quaint village and offered everything we needed. There is plenty to do and see within the outstanding countryside. I would definitely recommend this property, we enjoyed a very relaxing fortnight here.

Mrs S,

Mr F,

We’ve just spent Christmas at love cottage and we didn’t want to come home it’s location overlooking the beach and close proximity to the town was exceptional and the cottage itself is finished to a very high standard and very well equipped no expense has been spared with the planning of this charming little cottage we can’t recommend it highly enough and the owners went above and beyond to make our stay special
