Description

An interesting Arts and Crafts period property which has benefitted from recent renovations including a new kitchen and appliances in 2023, new central heating, refurbished bathroom, bespoke double glazing and is decorated and furnished throughout in soft shades, making the property airy, light and soothing.  Period features have been kept, maintaining the cottages character and overall ambience. With a large patio that enjoys the sun throughout the day and its own parking area it is most certainly a property for the discerning visitor who appreciates style and quality.

Location: In an elevated position in Beer, overlooking the village and a 4 minute walk down to the beach.

Accommodation: From the gravelled parking area, a gate leads to steps down into the patio garden. You enter the cottage via a tiled reception hall and a step-down leads to a parqueted open plan area containing a dining table and 6 chairs with panoramic views across the patio to the village and beyond. The kitchen has oak flooring, electric oven, ceramic hob, integrated tall fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave and plenty of crockery, cutlery, and equipment. Adjacent is a utility/boot room with washing machine, tumble dryer and rear access. The stylish sitting room has 2 three-seater leather settees, an open fire for the winter evenings and those lovely views across the village of Beer. There is a recently refurbished ground floor shower room with WC, wash basin and heated towel rail. From the hall is an elegant period wooden staircase to the first-floor landing off which is a second bathroom with bath, basin, WC, corner shower unit and heated towel rail, with added ambience provided by the stained glass windows. Alongside is the rear double bedroom with bedside tables, fitted wardrobes and a garden view. From the landing there are two steps up to the other two bedrooms. The master bedroom with original fireplace, a double bed, bedside tables, double wardrobe and large chest of drawers and extensive views across the village. The twin bedroom has the same views, a shared bedside cupboard and small wardrobe. The property has been tastefully decorated and furnished throughout, respecting the period features whilst sensitively incorporating modern styles.

Outside: The west facing patio area catches the sun throughout the day. You can enjoy eating at the 6-seater table with parasol, or relax in the casual seating around the fire pit, which can also be used as a BBQ for which equipment and utensils are provided.  Decorated with shrubs, plants and herbs for guests' use, it enjoys extensive views across the village. The patio is in an elevated position with a low cable fence and drop to the path below, so please supervise younger children and small pets.

Reviews

Fantastic property in Beer with the added benefit of on property parking. A lovely location with views over the Beer valley and really well equipped. Comfortable, clean, one to come back to.

Mr T,

We loved your cottage Lovely to have a tree & other decorations It really had everything we would need for cooking bedding etc Great to have a cold room off the kitchen where we had fruit & veg

Ms U,

Good convenient location. Parking space and parking permit very good. Comfortable and homely cottage which we recommend.

Mrs H,

Cleanliness at the property seemed to be lacking, no attention to detail I.e. stainless steel towel radiator covered in splash marks, kitchen surfaces still dirty, washing machine has thick layer of dust & dirt on door. Parking on the drive was a nightmare when cars parked in bay opposite entrance. Quality of cottage could be higher, I.e. furniture & furnishings

Miss Amy S,

We like the location, there is plenty of room and clean. Everything is there we need for comfort. Easy access to Axe Cliff golf club and Seaton sea front.

Mr John M,

Great location looking over Beer. Lovely cottage, very well kitted out. Perfect for our short stay.

Mr T,

This is a wonderful cottage. Everything about it is of a really high standard from the decoration and windows (both very recently redone) to the equipment levels and the excellent linen. The owners have thought of everything one could need - and more that one didn't need, but did find very handy. The parking space is so good and very unusual in Beer, and the walk into the village centre with its shops, pubs and restaurants easy ... it's not a flat walk but nowhere is in Beer, but it is less steep than most of the rest of the village! The booking system is great and communication with the agents excellent - and there's even a little office for Original Cottages in the middle of Beer for advice. All in all, one of the best holiday cottages on any network we have stayed in (and we have stayed in a lot!) We can't recommend highly enough and have already booked for next year

Past Customer,

Skirting boards were quite dirty behind coffee tables, occasional tables, weird smell in upstairs bathroom, I think coming from under sink pedestal, behind which, was filthy. We gave it a wipe over with anti bacterial wipes, but it really needs a good going over.

Mr Andrew R,
