Description

The Sheep Pen is a fantastic completely renovated property located near the small hamlet of Crook. Situated only 5 miles from Bowness on Windemere and 3 miles from the market town of Kendal. Dog friendly and with a great local pub within 10 minutes walking distance. This is an ideal base to explore the Lake District National Park.

Entering the property you can instantly feel that it has been finished to a high standard. To the right up two steps is the modern contemporary bathroom with its double sized walk-in shower, large sink and heated mirror. The bathroom is tiled in granite with an oak floor which runs throughout the property.

Down the stairs (watch your head as this is an old building the headroom to the lower area is quite low so you will need to be careful).

The downstairs is an open plan living room and a fully fitted equipped modern kitchen with oven, microwave, and hob. The room is completed by a large comfortable sofa, flat screen TV and Bluetooth speaker with a small dining table, a perfect room for relaxing after a days exploring. Underfloor heating runs below the entire ground floor, keeping you comfortable on the chilly winter days.

Just off the living area is the bedroom complete with a luxurious king size bed and plenty of storage space. (The bed can be split into two singles; if this is required please state at the time of booking).

There is an abundance of natural light in the downstairs area, with windows giving views over the garden area and countryside beyond.

Outside there is a fully enclosed garden, with a private area designated for use of guests staying at The Sheep Pen, here you have a table and chairs which is a great spot for a morning coffee or indeed an evening glass of wine, taking in the views of the rolling countryside.

WIFI is included.

Off road car parking is available directly outside the property.

Bike storage is available upon request.

NB: The property is next to a road so some road noise may be experienced.

NB: There is a low ceiling on the stairs to the downstairs living area.

NB: Due to the open-plan layout of the property The Sheep Pen is not suitable for children.

Reviews

We had a wonderful stay at the Sheep Pen. It was clean and cosy and had everything that we needed for our stay in the Lake District. The owners were fantastic hosts - very welcoming and informative. The Sheep Pen is in the perfect location to explore and nearby to Windermere and Grasmere. Would highly recommend a trip to the Black Labrador pub in nearby Underbarrow and do visit the charming farm shop, Plumgarths, only a stone throw away from the property. Would highly recommend staying here - thank you for having us!

Mr W,

The basement property is in a good location with an excellent pub within walking distance. Nearby Staveley has a great cafe/bakery, pub and other useful shops. Plumgarths farmshop, cafe and an artisan bakery are just down the road and worth visiting. The property is clean, comfortable and the underfloor heating was effective. The stairs down to the lower ground floor living room area has low head height all the way down and there is also a low beam in the living room area. There is no longer a bicycle storage area at the property which was an issue as we were in the Lake District for a cycle sportive.

Mr K,

We had a lovely stay at the Sheep Pen, and it was a great location from which to explore surrounding areas. Although apart from a single pub, very little within reasonable walking distance. This was stated up front though so not much of a criticism really. Property was nice and cool in the hot weather and the hosts next door were very welcoming and helpful. Very dog friendly place as well.

Mr Adam L,

Thanks again for another wonderful stay, it was great to see the owners again! The Sheep Pen is as comfortable and welcoming as ever - we have had another great week in the Lakes. Hope The Sheep Pen continues to give joy to all who stay here and I'm sure we'll be back again!

Past Customer,

Thank you for a lovely stay. We have had an amazing visit to the Lakes after 12 years! The rain didn't stop us at all. We loved Easedale Tarn. We can't wait to return! Thank you so much for the beers, such a kind gift - we enjoyed them in your garden watching the sunset.

Past Customer,

Thank you, we had a fabulous time visiting The Lakes. Who knew the sun can shine all day in November! The accommodation was wonderful, very comfy bed and settee, we had everything we needed for a very enjoyable stay.

Past Customer,

The Lakes in the snow and ice was a treat. A very comfortable stay for us all and loads of fine places to discover. Having never been to this part of the world, we shall come and stay here again. Highly recommend and thank you.

Past Customer,

Thank you for such a lovely stay at The Sheep Pen! we have had a nice few days exploring Lake Windermere and did a really nice walk along the lake from Castle Wray! Wish we were here for longer. We also enjoyed the bottle of prosecco - thank you!

Past Customer,

Only one problem with staying at The Sheep Pen - you have to go home!! What an amazing stay we have had, cannot wait to return!

Past Customer,

The Sheep Pen was in an amazing location and so SO clean! It was the perfect place to cosy up after long days hiking. We bumped into the owners briefly and they seemed really relaxed and friendly. Would absolutely stay at the sheep pen again!

miss A C,

Was only there 2 days, due to family hospitalisation. Central location, very nice property, dog friendly not so sure , though only me was there . Directions perfect.
