Description

Rose Cottage is in a fantastic village location and offers comfortable accommodation for 4 people. While retaining lots of traditional features the owners continue to improve their cottage to ensure guests have everything they need while on holiday in the Lake District.

Situated in the centre of Elterwater village near the Britannia Inn, Rose Cottage offers good quality accommodation for 4 people. A front patio area overlooking the village Bowling Green, means you can really feel part of village life, or for a little privacy the elevated rear garden is a relaxing space to sit and read a book on a summers evening.

Enter the cottage through the front porch into a cosy lounge with a real fire, original ceiling beams, comfy sofas and a rocking chair, the lounge has an flat screen TV, DVD player, Sky, a mini Hi Fi and wifi. Off the lounge is the Kitchen/Dining room with seating for six around a farmhouse table. The kitchen is fully fitted with Dishwasher, Microwave, Fridge, Freezer and electric double oven. We love the traditional yet functional space in Rose Cottage!

Heading upstairs, there is a heated drying cupboard with plenty of extra hanging space for outdoor gear. The master bedroom has an ensuite shower room, while the twin bedroom makes use of the main family bathroom. The bathrooms are modern and tastefully decorated. Both bedrooms overlook the front of the house, towards Langdale Beck and the village street.

What's included?

We want our holiday cottages to be a 'home for home'. All the beds are made up ready for you, towels are included so no need to bring those, and shower mats are also provided. Reviews

The living room was very dark, the dark furnishings and dark carpet did not help and the sofas/ chairs were not comfortable. The picture on the website very misleading. The bathrooms were excellent and a lot of equipment in the kitchen which was great.

Mrs W,

Great little cottage of a very high standard and 3 doors from one of the best pubs in the lakes. Smashing

Mr B,

Rose Cottage is in a great location for the central fells, many walks from the door. Comfortable, with everything you need.

Ms E,

Lovely property with tons of character. One if the single beds was on a bit of a slant causing the occupant to slide slightly throughout the night. But apart from that we loved it.

Mrs Iwona L,

We had a great holiday. The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped. The only thing I would point out is that the allocated parking space was too difficult of access and very tight to get to with a very narrow passage between buildings and as a result we didn’t use it. We had to find an alternative space which isn’t easy in Elterwater.

Mrs Martine H,

Rose cottage, although only 3 stars turned out to be extremely cosy and comfortable, much better than we expected as we were late booking our stay and not much choice left. Except for a few squeaky doors which we fixed. Its in a great position walks from the door and pub. Excellent food at the Eltermere inn and Stove restaurant. We will return.

Mrs Kay R,

The location of the cottage in the centre of Elterwater is fabulous. The cottage was cosy and well equipped. Our only concern was that the designated parking area was extremely difficult to access. With a narrow gateway which needed to be reversed out of with someone guiding. Difficult in a medium sized car or larger.

Mr Christopher O,

No complaints regarding the standard of the property. One minor issue with the TV which was dealt with quickly and satisfactorily. Beautiful location.

Mr Keith E,

We had a great time and generally very comfortable. When we arrived we felt the front room was a little stark - we rearranged the sofas around the fire to make it more cosy. A few little things - wind up torch did not work, fridge needs a new bulb and kitchen needs some tongs. And it’s a very noisy mattress - no way you can get in and out of bed quietly!!! And … it’s just possible there is a mouse (I hope it’s a mouse- it is next to a cafe) in the boxed in water pipes in the ceiling of the lounge. There were scurrying noises from there when neither of us were in the bathroom so it wasn’t water. The dog thought there was something too and he didn’t react to the water noises!!! We didn’t see anything or any evidence of anything, but of course it’s old so there will be many ways in.

Miss Karen B,

Our 2nd visit to Rose Cottage, everything was perfect.

Mr Simon K,
