Description

Sitting in an elevated position half a mile from the centre of Ilfracombe and boasting amazing views is Farthings Nest – a fantastic retreat for couples wanting to explore North Devon. Beautifully renovated, this cosy ground floor apartment has a patio directly outside the living room which overlooks the garden, across the town and toward the Torrs which has a zig-zag walk to the top of the hills carved into the cliff face by the Victorians. Inside the apartment, the spacious open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner has a couple of large, comfy settees (one of which is a sofabed for alternative sleeping arrangements), a 40" flat screen Smart WiFi TV with Blue- ray disc player, a dining table for four people and a modern, well-equipped kitchen. A useful storage cupboard houses the washing machine and tumble dryer. A spacious bedroom and huge bathroom with a shower over the bath complete the accommodation. Outside, there is a patio directly outside the living room with furniture, with the rest of the garden being shared with The Farthings upstairs and the apartments can be rented with The Farthings (FARTHI) for larger groups of 10 people. Farthings Nest is approx. half a mile up the hill from Ilfracombe's main High Street. The town has  a delightful mix of Victorian and Regency architecture, pretty harbour, independent shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs. The harbour, along with Damien Hirst’s bronze statue Verity and the Tunnels Beaches, is well worth seeing along with a visit to the award-winning Ilfracombe Aquarium, fascinating Ilfracombe Museum, Larkstone Leisure Park, Hele Cornmill and Chambercombe Manor - one of Britain's most haunted houses.

All areas are a 5 Excellent apartment with great views, lovely hosts, steph and mick, amazing welcome hamper!! Eat your cream tea watching the ever changing weather over Ilfracombe. Great location to explore North Devon. Plenty of crockery, cutlery, glasses, cooking equipment. Dishwasher tablets, cleaning products, comfy bed! Would definitely recommend

Fantastic property with great views over part of Ilfracombe and the sea. Sit on the patio and admire the view with the cream tea supplied by the hosts, lots of goodies in a lovely wicker basket which was above and beyond! Plenty of crockery, cutlery, glasses and cooking equipment. Large fridge freezer, washer, dryer and dishwasher. We found the bed very comfortable, not hard or too soft. Property was well cared for and clean. The owners were fab hosts, welcoming but unobtrusive, available if needed. Great location to travel around North Devon. The walk into town is downhill, return very steep, suggest a taxi! Super week!

Excellent property. Very clean and well equipped. Sea views wonderful. Owners very kind and helpful. Welcome hamper was really lovely. Heating was on and the property was very warm and cosy. Easy to walk to the harbour. Very steep hill back up to the property, but taxis are available. Harbour car park was free after 6pm when we stayed. Lovely theatre near the harbour.

We had a lovely stay at Farthings Nest. The property is very welcoming, well decorated, clean and so well equipped with everything you could need. The bed is especially comfy and the shower is great! Steph the owner was very friendly and made us welcome, the little hamper on arrival was a brilliant touch. Steph really helped us out providing a travel cot and highchair too! We really enjoyed exploring the local area and would definitely return to Farthings Nest.

Farthings Nest has wonderful sea views being so high above sea level and a lovely enclosed garden. The property was really spacious, spotlessly clean and very well equipped. There was a hamper waiting for us on arrival, milk and even a cream tea in the fridge! Such a thoughtful welcome surprise. We met the owner who is lovely. Just be aware the walk up from the town is very steep.

Location was on top of a rather steep hill so not perhaps suitable for those with any mobility issues. Walking into town was also very steep . After eating out we took taxis back, rather than face the hill! Property very good and you could eat meals in the garden overlooking the sea. Everything else very good.
