Description

Flat 8 in Clifton Court has fantastic views of Putsborough Beach from its open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner as well as its balcony – and sauna.

Situated between Croyde and Woolacombe, the apartments are on four levels with access to all being on level three. Each have a designated parking space with additional guest parking which is on a first come first served basis and all have individual views of the beach and full use of the indoor heated swimming pool. Number 8 has steps leading down to level one where the spacious living area has well-positioned sofas to make the most of the view and patio doors leading out to a private paved terrace – the largest in Clifton Court! The apartment has good quality furniture and is cosy throughout the year. There are three bedrooms – two of which have en-suite facilities – and there is a sauna located off the en-suite shower room in bedroom 2. Outside, a lane at the side of the building leads to the beach which, like the majority of locations along the North Devon coastline, is renowned for its fantastic surfing conditions and has been known to hold waves over 12 feet high! The beach is perfect for advanced surfers looking for punchy powerful waves as well as beginners looking to try their hand at this exhilarating sport. The seasonal beach café situated just below the car park is more than happy to hire out their boards and wetsuits. A choice of shops, pubs and restaurants are available in the nearby village of Croyde approximately 2 miles away and Woolacombe approx. 3 miles away. There are also delightful footpaths stretching along the coastline from which to enjoy the stunning views.

Reviews

A really lovely, comfortable and well equipped apartment with great views right on the beach. The indoor swimming pool was a great addition, we really enjoyed using it.

Mrs G,

The view as we drove into Clifton court was absolutely amazing, we will never forget that. The boys loved the pool and we had it to ourselves most of the time. The bed and sheets were better than our own at home!

Mrs Michelle H,

The location of this property is stunning with fantastic views. Can't fault the quality of the apartment and the swimming pool. Be aware the access roads are very narrow with passing places, wasn't a problem for us though as we are used to Devon lanes.

Mr H,

The property was chosen as on the website it states: Accessibility on one level, no stairs. Disappointed that the access to the apartment was down 36 steps (not ideal for disabled or people with mobility issues. Whilst not registered disabled my wife does have knee issues). Plus the apartment is not on one level, there are 3 steps up to the kitchen area and two of the three bedrooms from the spacious lounge/dinning area. The last one and a bit miles by car are via narrow and bendy single track road with passing places and in high season, probably a nightmare in heavy traffic. Access to the beach was down and up a steep narrow lane used by motor vehicles to the beach car park. There is little or no mobile signal, certainly on the two different networks we had. If the description were sales particulars by an estate agent, they would probably fall foul of the Property Mis-description Act. The location of the property does offer outstanding views from the moment you enter the lounge, dining, patio areas and the master bedroom. The price for out of season was good value for money. The property was cleaned to a good standard and a housekeeper was available if necessary. On the positives side, the accommodation was spacious, well equipped, lots of entertainment in the way of books, playing cards, jigsaws and good TV selection with BT TV, Apple Box and iPod station and WiFi connection. Having said all this we would certainly use and recommend Original Cottages again.

Mrs Samantha G,

It is really comfortable and clean but It’s a shame the jacuzzi is still not working from the previous year and that the day before we went we were told the sauna was broken. Both of these we were looking forward to as it was winter. We swam in the on-site swimming pool every day which was warm on the first day but got increasingly colder each day as it wasn’t heated! It was difficult to sit outside as the neighbours 3 dogs were running loose on the terrace

Mr Andrew G,
