Description

Located in a side street off the delightful Harbour Street, this quirky cottage (which was formerly the town’s sweet shop) is in the perfect position to enjoy all that Whitstable has to offer. It is just yards from the independent boutique shops, the pubs, cafes and restaurants, and also yards from the beach and harbour. The decor is an eclectic mix of nautical, film and music and offers a cosy sitting room with log-burner, an open-plan dining room with door to the enclosed patio garden, kitchen and downstairs bathroom with bath and walk-in shower. Upstairs are two double bedrooms with a third twin bedroom being on the second floor. So, whether you want to be out and about on the water or on the beach, listening to live music, exploring the local arts and crafts or simply chilling at the cottage, this property is the ideal base.

Out and About: Whitstable has a myriad of things to entertain visitors. The working harbour has a fish market and takeaway fish stalls, boat trips are available to the iconic sea forts and wind farms. Water sports are also available in peak summer months. The town is a web of old alleyways to explore and the vibrant music and arts scene mean that there is always something happening year-round. Further afield is the historical City of Canterbury with the medieval cathedral, and Faversham with the romantic creek and bustling markets.

Reviews

A great cottage so close to the sea, shops & harbour in Whitstable. Lovely sheltered garden and great pub down the road. The sweets are a fantastic touch and we really enjoyed our short stay here.

Mrs K,

Well equipped, great location. Roadside parking available but not always nearby. Very steep stairs but a good relaxing stay - thank you!

Previous Customer,

Beautiful little cottage in the perfect position for access to the sea and the shops and restaurants. Very clean and nicely decorated. Perhaps sensible to be aware of the extremely steep stairs.

Mrs R,

Lovely house & the location is great, close to the High Street, restaurants, pubs & beach. We stayed for Christmas 2023, the High Street was beautifully lit & the house itself very warm & cosy. Owners provided a decorated Christmas Tree, wood for the burner & a hamper on arrival. We had all we needed for a four night stay & would love to come back again!

Mrs J,

The Old Sweet Shop is a wonderful property pretty much in the heart of Whitstable. Its location is ideal for the beach and the lovely high street. We loved that the property was decoarated for Christmas, featuring a real Christmas tree too. The property is very clean, well maintained and had lovely little nod to its past with a selection of sweets you can help yourself to!

Mr B,

Great location. Warm and comfortable. Secure back garden for the dog.

Ms D,

We have had a lovely stay. Great to be close to everything. Thank you for the lovely welcome pack, much appreciated! Weather was king to us for walking, our two dogs enjoyed and so did we! Thank you x

Past Customer,

Past Customer,

Lovely few days spent at Whitstable - first time visit! Cottage perfect for the harbour where we spent time. Surrounding area lovely. Hope to be back - thank you!

Past Customer,

Lovely little holiday let, well equipped and cosy. Lovely welcome pack, much appreciated. Very close to all amenities. South Quay Shed in the harbour has a really nice vibe. Hathat's coffee and hot chocolate is the best. The Lobster Shack out on the beach worth a visit. Sale & Pepe a great place to eat, food was lovely and went twice. Grain & Hearth a lovely place for breakfast. The gem of Whitstable has to be Porto's wine bar, so friendly and helpful with the wine list. Snacking platters are great, lovely wine & port and such a nice atmosphere - would definitely recommend for a chilled evening. we love Whitstable and visit frequently but staying this week has been heaven. Long walks to Herne Bay and Seasalter along the beach a must.

Lovely holiday over Christmas. Great being so close to a beach and loved the Christmas Tree. Thank you.

David & K,

Enjoyed our stay. Plenty of places to eat and drink even in November. Can recommend Birdies in Harbour Street. East Kent Inn has good food and worth the walk

Paul & M,

A great home from home for two fabulous weeks to round off the summer. The weather has been kind and we've been in the sea most days.

Burns Family,

Fantastic holiday in an amazing location. Homely cottage to return to after a busy day out and about. We loved the walks along the seafront. Thanks for a great holiday.

Previous Customer,

Bottom step on stairs is broken and could be dangerous for people who don’t realise. The shower has mould on the ceiling. The sofas not very comfortable for time spent in. Did not stop us enjoying our break just wanted to bring to your attention
