Description

Tucked away in the centre of this traditional Norfolk village, Fieldmouse Barn is an attractive brick & flint conversion that offers character with mod cons. There is plenty of space inside and a lovely sunny, private courtyard garden outside; just the spot for al fresco eating in warmer weather. The barn also has a large wood burner in the living area for toasting toes after a bracing walk with the dog. Both bedrooms have a television for lazy morning lie-ins or late night movies. Ideally situated with the village pub round the corner, the barn is a great springboard location for access to the best of north Norfolk. Coast, countryside, historic houses and elegant Georgian towns are all here - there is plenty to explore at any time of the year. Shop: 2 miles Pub: within walking distance

Bodham is a small village close to the North Norfolk Coast which has a traditional pub offering excellent meals. The village has some great walks in the vicinity and depending on how energetic you wish to be you can walk to Weybourne on the coast. Sheringham and Cromer are two fun and traditional seaside towns within easy reach, with sandy beaches, live theatre in one and a pier show in the other; both towns have numerous good places to eat, including traditional fish and chips. The historic house of Felbrigg and the equally lovely Sheringham Park with gorgeous views down to the coast are both run by the National Trust and within easy reach.  Amazona Zoo on the outskirts of Cromer is somewhere all generations will enjoy. Travel inland a little to discover the pretty, elegant, Georgian town of Holt, with plenty of independent boutique shops, a great food hall, numerous art galleries, antique haunts and a good slice of cake and coffee culture can be found here too! There is also a coastal steam train service from Holt to Sheringham. Golf courses can be found at Sheringham and Cromer and there are some wonderful views from the coastal cliff top walks.

Reviews

The cottage was well equiped and in a good location. Beds were comfy, some nights the ensuite bedroom was quiet cold but apart from that everything was fine.

Mrs L,

The cottage is ideal for visiting the north Norfolk coast and surrounding areas. There is a village pub virtually next door. Apart from that no village shop so you have to drive to Holt which is only about 10 mins away. The cottage was clean and the kitchen well fitted out with equipment which was ideal as we cooked Christmas dinner there. We were not able to control the heating which switched off at 10:00 so we felt a little chilly in the evenings.

Mrs G,

Lovely property with all the essentials you could need. Fully equipped kitchen with plenty of crockery. Wi-Fi included. TVs in the living room and both bedrooms. Very comfortable and in a lovely location close to Holt.

Mrs N,

Lovely property. Next to a lovely pub which we would really recommend. Really lovely spacious barn.

Mrs C,

Fieldmouse Barn was a really lovely property and spotlessly clean . The village is small with only a pub next door but set back a short way from the main road meant it was quiet . The kitchen equipment was of good quality and cleaning materials very generous . Cooker , fridge , washer etc in good working order .

Mr W,

Can’t complain about anything but did find the leaving instructions a bit dictatorial

Ms Mandy M,

Heating wasn't on until I complained. Mat by door slips. No non stick mat in shower. Wasn't made clear that I should book a cleaner for a 2 week stay. Lighting very poor to read by. Chest of drawers in 2ndbedroom are falling apart. Welcome pack was poor.

Mrs Pam P,

The property was exactly as described. It was excellently situated, very handy for the beach . The barn was immaculately presented, spotlessly clean with good quality appliances. Would definitely stay there again and would happily recommend Original Cottages to family and friends.

Mrs Jane F,

We had a wonderful time and the house was great. It’s ideally situated for the Broads and the North Norfolk coast. The house is very cosy and well stocked, particularly in the kitchen. You could create a cordon bleu meal with the amount of gadgets and utensils! Lovely soft towels in the bathrooms which were clean and spacious. It suited our small family and dog and I’m sure we will be back! The pub to the rear serves decent pub grub so there’s a very convenient option if you don’t fancy cooking! We had a brilliant time.

Mrs Melanie C,

The property was lovely. However, our relaxation and comfort was disturbed by the dog in the pub next door. One morning it barked from 7- 8:30 am. Not good when you want a lie in. We did speak to a barman in the pub and he said the dog was kept in the garden and a young boy torments it…? This has put us off staying at the property again. Also the clock in the hallway ticks very loudly.

Mrs Janet H,

The cottage had everything one could possibly need and all was to the highest specification. A very high-quality cottage indeed.
