Description

A spacious, single storey, traditional brick and flint barn conversion, next to the picturesque grounds of Hindringham Hall, sleeps four in two bedrooms. Mr Docking was the Head Herdsman and after the war, this former barn was converted into a cottage for him and his young bride to live in. The cottage has its own secure enclosed garden which makes it ideal for guests with dogs and there are enjoyable walks right from the front door. Dockings Cottage has a large comfortable living and dining area with high ceilings and solid oak floors. There is a wood burning stove, a modern kitchen with glazed double doors opening into the garden, making it a bright and airy space. The two bedrooms, one double and one twin, both with en-suite bathrooms are located at either end of the cottage. For those who enjoy less sedate pastimes a tennis court is available at neighbouring Hindringham Hall, with its stunning gardens open to the public twice a week for the summer months (there is a 20% entrance fee discount for guests staying at Dockings Cottage). Dockings Cottage is located on the edge of an area of outstanding natural beauty and lay next to the picturesque gardens of Hindringham Hall, an Elizabethan moated manor house. Available to book separately or, as a whole, alongside Hall Farm Barn each have their own private gardens, parking as well as great facilities. Located just 5 miles from the coast, and the salt marshes of Stiffkey, Dockings Cottage is easily accessible to variety of attractions nearby. Visit the popular seaside town of Wells-next-the-Sea, with soft sandy beaches amidst colourful beach huts, a truly wonderful day out that the whole family will love. Enjoy fish and chips on the quay or perhaps a spot of ‘crabbing’ by the picturesque harbour. Blakeney is also a popular spot to visit, home to the grey seal colony and with boat trips to visit the seals in their natural habitat at Blakeney Point. Great for shopping and just a short drive away is the Georgian town of Holt. Discover a range of independent and boutique shops, quaint cafés and restaurants – you can easily while away an afternoon meandering through the courtyards and pretty lanes. Holkham Hall is nearby; enjoy summer picnics amidst a backdrop of woodland with statuesque red deer herd or explore the grounds by foot. In the summer months venture through the parkland on two wheels with bicycle hire available, for the youngsters there is a popular adventure playground offering welcome shade on warmer days.
