There is a super local pub, the Carpenters Arms, just a mile away in the village of Wighton itself with a selection of real ales ‘on tap’ and great food sourced from local farmers and fishermen at the Carpenters Arms. The nearby village of Binham has a local store and garage; popular with visitors to the area and locals ‘raw milk’ can be purchased at Abbey Farm Dairy, definitely worth sampling. Binham also has remains of an early 12th Century Benedectine priory where classical concerts are held throughout the summer.
Just a ten minute drive is the beautiful seaside town of Wells-next-the-Sea, popular all year round. Why not try a spot of ‘crabbing’ on the popular Quayside or enjoy a drink and crepe on the Albatross, one of the oldest sailing ships still afloat and permanently moored alongside the picturesque Quay. Beach lovers will enjoy a stroll down the beach path with an array of sailing boats to admire in the summer months. Alternatively take a ride on the narrow-gauge steam train to the beach car park and discover the colourful beach huts whilst taking in the sea air. Outdoors and cycling enthusiasts can take advantage of the cycle hire available from the Lodges ‘on-site office’ with booking available through the owners of ‘On Yer Bike’, Norfolk Cycle Hire.

Reviews

Comfortable lodge in an out of the way location, great for a quiet break and dark starry nights. Comfortable bed and good quality towels provided. However you will need to provide own sandwich bags, cling film etc which is usually provided in other self catering places we have stayed in. Owner was very pleasant. Just be aware that the oil fired heating can be a bit smelly.

Mrs W,

A nice, simple property which is a good base for exploring north Norfolk. A good ground floor space for a family with young children.

Mrs B,

Lovely accommodation and location, would definitely return. A few recommendations: pasta bowls, more bathroom storage and a bigger fridge.

Mrs Laura H,

Lovely location easy access to coast

Mrs Joanna P,

We enjoy staying here as it meets our needs. Equipment is very minimal in the kitchen- limited number of glasses and crockery and no iron or ironing board, but as we've stayed 4 times it obviously hasn't deterred us. We always enjoy our stay.

Mr David D,

Really enjoyed the stay, excellent value. Not really walkable to any amenities as we have very young children but when they are older it would be great to cycle around! 1 thing- the bread knife was so sharp and double sided! We both cut ourselves in the same way.

Mrs Eva M,

Lovely cottage, well equipped, in perfect location for exploring the north Norfolk coast.
