Salthouse is an unspoilt conservation village situated on the North Norfolk Coast in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village is well represented with the award winning Cookies Crabshop serving local seafood and produce as well as the Dun Cow pub. It is an ideal location for exploring the diverse coastline, from the popular resorts of Sheringham and Cromer to the picturesque villages of Cley-next-the-Sea and Blakeney, all of which are within a few miles and can be accessed via the ever-popular Coast Hopper bus service if you don’t want to take the car. The nearby glorious sandy beaches at Wells-next-the-Sea and Holkham are wide, spacious and backed by pine woods and don’t miss a visit to Holkham Hall and deer park, home to the Earl of Leicester. The area is a year-round haven for ornithologists, walkers and nature lovers, with many bird reserves, good fishing and excellent walks close by. Enjoy a boat trip to north Norfolk’s seal colonies from either Blakeney or Morston quays or hire a dingy for some local sailing adventures of your own. There is much to do here and once discovered you will surely want to return.

Reviews

Brilliant location for walkers & birdwatchers, really big property with everything you could possibly want.

Mr S,

Just returned from a lovely stay at marsh view . Beautiful spacious cottage & very well equipped . First visit to Norfolk & very well positioned for walking & good bus service too

Mrs D,

The Property is located in a very quiet cul-de-sac in this picturesque coastal village of Salthouse; far enough away from the coast road to be undisturbed by holiday traffic but still close enough to the small general store and pub to easily walk there. The Property is very well appointed and has bedrooms on three separate levels (including a sort of semi-annexe above the garage that has its own shower/loo but is still linked to the rest of the house) which is excellent if you have snorers within your group/or want privacy! A bottle of Wine and luxury biscuits, large bottle of milk, tea bags and coffee awaited us on arrival which were very welcome. We were lucky and had beautiful sunny weather all week in early February (perfect for our birdwatching holiday) but nights were cold. However the house was always warm and cosy so we didn't really need to use the log burning stove other than for decoration at night.

Previous Customer,

House was as advertised and excellent. Warm and comfortable only two problems there were no kitchen knives, bread carving, chopping etc or any bottle cork screw. The television was a nightmare. The housekeeper/handyman, who replaced dishwasher on first Saturday (organised before we arrived) said it was difficult. The best time we achieved to switch on was 3minutes the longest 25 minutes. Frustrating but a minor niggle.

Mr Michael B,
