Description

A little bit of countryside magic can be found at Clare Cottage. Set in a tranquil spot, in the renowned Glaven Valley, it has 3 acres of land to explore with its own meadow with a stream, pond, bulrushes and a lovely view of the village Church. It is a beautiful, natural habitat for the whole family to enjoy and one of the best ways is to take a seat on the logs by the campfire for a picnic and a bit of marshmallow toasting. The charm of the cottage inside, will not escape you either. With beams, exposed brick walls and an open fire in the living room, this light-filled spacious house is well equipped. For the enthusiastic cook there is a range cooker in the kitchen, perfect for making delicious meals to take out onto the terrace on warmer days and there is plenty of room for all the family with additional sleeping facilities in the Snug/Games Room if needed. Clare Cottage has a unique setting overlooking its meadow and the countryside beyond so don’t forget to spend some time looking out for barn owls, local deer and enjoying the peace and quiet this delightful holiday home can offer. Pets: 2 well behaved dogs will be accepted at this property. Please be aware of our booking information regarding pets.

Notes:This is a non smoking property. Children should be supervised at all times when close to water and near the muddy ditches that act as the boundary to the neighbouring property. There are sheep in the field to keep the grass down intermittently over the season, and as the garden is not totally enclosed, any dogs at the property must be kept under control and not be permitted to roam into the field. Please note there is 10 beds and a spare pull out bed, which can be used by 3 extra guests if you would like at no extra charge, for the extra guests please provide your own linen.

Gunthorpe is a small quiet, pretty village just a stone’s throw from the beautiful market town of Holt, a haven for retail therapy full of independent boutiques shops, cafes and galleries. Clare Cottage is six miles from the beautiful North Norfolk Coast, go on a seal trip from Blakeney Quay or visit the Norfolk Wildlife Trusts’ Cley Marshes Reserve for some brilliant bird watching. There are some stunningly beautiful beaches here too, try out Holkham or Wells-next-the-Sea, with their vast sandy spaces backed by dunes and pinewoods. Along the coast there are excellent pubs and restaurants who specialize in serving locally sourced food; needless to say there is super seafood, Brancaster Mussels and Cromer Crabs to name but a few. The historic cathedral city of Norwich makes a great day out; here you will find a huge selection of independent shops, theatres, museums and restaurants. Enjoy family days out at Pensthope Natural Park just a few miles away and seek out the children’s indoor and outdoor adventure play areas, lakes and wildlife along the way. There is plenty to do within easy reach of the cottage – come and explore!

Fantastic stay we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves on our trip to North Norfolk. The beaches were wonderful although the weather was a little wet and windy at times! We fully recommend the Dun Cow, a pub in Salthouse, the staff were lovely and the food was delicious. In terms of crabbing we tried at Morston but never got the tide right as it was always out! But we were successful at Blakeney Harbour. The two magpies bakery has amazing delicious food. Thank you so much for the stay, it really has been wonderful.

Thanks for a wonderful stay in this amazing place! we loved exploring outside and playing the various games inside. Such a peaceful location, while easy to reach the coast - we've enjoyed trips to Hunstanton through to Sheringham. Pensthorpe also an absolute delight for the whole family. The norfolk coastal walk was beautiful. Can highly recommend The Lodge just outside of Dereham for excellent food and service.

Beautiful cottage in a peaceful village. If you can tear yourself away from the lovely house and gardens, a short drive takes you to the coast. We loved exploring the ‘sheep meadow’! The beds are super-comfy, the welcome pack is full of lovely treats and the views are just wonderful. Highly recommended.

Clare Cottage is a lovely house in a very attractive village, and with a great garden for children to run around in, or for ancient grandfather to watch birds in the early morning. The house is well equipped, well maintained, and very comfortable, in our case for five adults and three children with ages ranging from 90 to 5. Quick and easy to reach the glorious beaches of North Norfolk from Brancaster in the west to Cley and beyond on the eastern side. Walsingham close by. We can't wait to get back.

The cottage was amazing, it felt huge. Considering we were a party of 8, the property felt really spacious. The lounge was big, with plenty of space to sit around the gorgeous log fire and the dining table sat all 8 of us which was fabulous. There was also a play room and a huge utility area. The grounds made for a perfect Easter Egg hunt on Easter Sunday morning. the children loved it because they could run around. The south of the garden was perfect for our games of Croquet. Then past the gate a huge field full of Mumma Sheep and their baby lambs. It was so amazing waking up and watching the little lambs bouncing all over the field.
