Thursford is a small village with a big reputation being home to one of the world's most important steam and fairground museums, The Thursford Collection, which also hosts a spectacular Christmas show each year. This is a great area for walking; Thursford Wood contains 500-year-old oak trees and the coastal villages of Cley-next-the-Sea, Wells-next-the-Sea, Blakeney, Morston and Stiffkey, set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, are only a few miles away; walk on the sandy beaches, bird watch on the marshes and eat at some great restaurants and cafes along the coast. The nearby Georgian town of Holt is a must, as are the historically important villages of Little Walsingham and Binham, with its beautiful Priory ruins. Also don't miss out on the grand houses of the region at Holkham and Houghton - there is much to see in this corner of Norfolk and something for everyone.

Reviews

Incredible accommodation, we truly loved our stay at the Golden Lion Barn. Facilities were of high quality, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. We would definitely book again in the future.

Mr B,

Golden Lion Barn was a great place for a family stay. The property was very comfortable and well equipped, and is only 20 minutes from Wells Next The Sea and Holkham. Despite the weather in March being quite cold, the house was always a comfortable temperature. The enclosed back garden is perfect if you're staying with a dog, and the entrance to the front is also enclosed. The kitchen had everything needed, and there is plenty of space for preparing meals. The original roof timbers add great character to the property, and the tallest member of our party only bumped his head once! :) There are supermarkets that are 15 minutes away, which is also very handy.

Mr K,

house was clean but want a deep clean ,house was plagued with flys stickers on doors and window but electric fly killer required car park small for 2 cars but overall we had a good holiday

Mr Mark P,

Lovely barn conversion in a great location, could access lots of places quite easily with a short car journey. Back gate does need fixing though.

Mrs C,

A very nice play to stay with a lovely enclosed garden in a very quiet secluded spot. Well furnished with all the necessary equipment and comfortable beds

Mr S,

A very well equipped, comfortable cottage in a lovely location, an especially good welcome pack with soft drinks, tea, crisps and biscuits. Gorgeous spacious garden. Overall excellent. Our only quibble is no tumble drier, just a washing machine (unless we just missed something!).

Ms Liz S,

We had a very comfortable few days at the cottage, but we did have a couple of observations, first I reported that we were unable to get on to the Wi-Fi and was told someone would come out and sort it, that didn’t happen, so only got the mail about putting the linen in bags after we got home, also the outside lights to the car parking didn’t work, which was a bit concerting on these dark nights

Mrs Mary R,
