If you don’t know this part of Norfolk you are in for a treat!  The Broads National Park are practically on the doorstep and one of the largest of the Broads is Hickling Broad, a haven for wildlife and looked after by the Norfolk Wildlife Trust, who do tours in the summer months, it is easy to spend time away from the world along the marked trails and let the day drift away, don’t forget a picnic.  The fabulous east coast beaches are also nearby and often underpopulated even in the summer months, family friendly with soft sands the beach at Sea Palling, just 5 miles away, has been given the prestigious Blue Flag safe beach award this year.  Iconic coastal landmarks such as Horsey Windpump and Happisburgh Lighthouse with its candy red and white stripes should not be missed and the resident seal colony at Horsey Gap is about as close to nature as you can get; if you are here in the winter months the new pups can be seen too.  A series of Quiet Lanes, that have been designated as rural roads for less traffic, abound in the area, which is great for walkers and cyclists alike and the cultural city of Norwich is worthy of a day’s outing to take in the culture, a bit of retail therapy and so much more.

Reviews

Warm and cosy cottage in easy walking distance to Hickling Broad and a good pub. Walks and cycling from the door, perfect for kayaking the Broads. The high water levels at the moment make this end of the Broads incredibly peaceful as the large boats aren’t getting under Potter Heigham bridge.

Mr L,

A really well equipped and cosy cottage. The location is perfect for exploring the Broads and the east coast. The village is very peaceful with an added bonus of a traditional (friendly) pub. All in all, an excellent place to stay.

Mr W,

We loved this cottage, it was well presented and clean and comfortable. Lovely quiet location, close to NWT nature reserve on Hickling Broad and also not far from the local beaches. Saw hares and muntjac in the surrounding fields. Within walking distance of local pub.

Mrs R,

Lovely, spacious, comfortable, well equipped and generously provisioned cottage in peaceful and beautiful location within easy reach of a number of Broads and the coast for superb walking and bird and seal watching. An excellent place to stay, well located to easily visit the Broads, North Norfolk coast, Norwich and South Norfolk/North Suffolk and a short walk to Hickling Broad nature reserve (fantastic).. Beautiful, peaceful garden to sit in at the end of a day's walking. A superb cottage.
