The village of Langham is a charming north Norfolk village with a pretty church and cottages featuring the local brick and flint architecture.  It is a great springboard for exploring this part of Norfolk being just minutes from the coast, marshes and fabulous sandy beaches at Wells-next-the-Sea and Holkham. From here it is also easy to explore many of the delightful coastal villages such as Blakeney and Cley-next-the-Sea, which has a world renowned birdwatching centre nearby.   Much of this part of the coastline is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and other pleasures to be enjoyed here are sailing, visiting historic houses and crabbing on the quayside - which will keep all members of the family happily entertained for hours! Walking the quiet lanes, nearby heaths and parks such as Kelling Heath and the National Trust's Sheringham Park, which affords great views down to the coast are also worth seeking out.  With a good local village pub and other excellent restaurants and gastro-pubs such as The Wiveton Bell and The Anchor at Morston, as well as cafes and delicatessens nearby there are easily plenty of places to sample the local gastronomic delights that Norfolk is justifiably famous for.  Venture inland to discover the wonderful Georgian town of Holt, a landmark for the area, with its antique shops, independent fashion boutiques, art galleries, cafes and tea rooms and whilst here take a journey on the local steam railway for a coastal journey to Sheringham.  With so much to see and do, many happy memories will be made and a return visit will be a certainty.

Reviews

A comfortable and well appointed cottage in a very good location, peaceful but well positioned. We enjoyed our stay at Simon’s Barn.

Mrs A,

We absolutely loved our stay at Simon’s barn. It’s spotlessly clean and has everything you need. Great for our dog too! Brilliant location near the stunning beach at Holkham and lovely Harper Hotel and pub nearby. We will certainly be returning for our third time!

Ms B,

Simon’s Barn is a warm, cosy and spacious accommodation for two people. The bed is exceptionally comfortable and the quality of the bed linen, towels, etc were excellent. The area is beautiful and we would certainly make a return visit.

Mr C,

Very comfortable and well kitted out property. Good location. Lovely pub in the village. Great base to explore the area.

Dr H,

Property clean but a little dusty in places. Kitchen equipment a bit basic i:e only one large saucepan and a small milk pan, wobbly handle on kettle lid which could difficult to open.

Mrs Susan C,

On arrival, the front gate was very stiff to open and we found out that the top hinge only had one screw holding it on. Therefore, it was not secure for our dog to be left just in this small area. With us both in our 80s we found this a rather daunting issue when trying to keep this heavy gate in place and opening it. On trying to enter the security numbers to obtain the front door key we found that the key pad was not working and the key was not secure as the key was easily accessed, we therefore took the key out with us as we felt the cottage was not secure. On using the actual key to get in, we also found the door was warped and the actual key lock did not aline with the door frame. Which in turn meant we had to lift and slam heavily to try to actually secure the locking device. Tap in the kitchen sink moved, it possibly could come adrift. Lovely kitchen, but not a single cupboard to be used for food ( that doesn't need to be refridgerated. All the cupboard space was taken up with equipment. In the bathroom the towel ring next to washbasin was not secure and came off into my wife's hand . Therefore, we think that a general maintenance of the said property should be carried out , especially for security reasons.

Mr Edward H,

Beautiful property. Loved the log burner. Very clean and well equipped. Very comfy bed.
