Description

The Mount is a detached, character, family house in Crugmeer, a tiny, tranquil hamlet of stone and slate cottages set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This spacious and comfortable home enjoys panoramic views to the front over unspoilt countryside towards the sea, and further sea views to the rear from the upstairs rooms. The large lawned areas and delightful slate patio make this an ideal property for adults and children alike. This stunning location offers privacy and seclusion and yet is only a 10 minute walk to the nearest beach at Trevone. Also within a few miles are some fine sandy surfing beaches and magnificent walks along the coastal footpaths - great for bird watching or spotting seals. There is a well-stocked farm shop nearby. The historic fishing port of Padstow (1.5 miles) boasts a number of shops, pubs and restaurants including Rick Steins.  There are also boat trips from the harbour across to Rock. Activities such as golf, horse riding and water sports are all available nearby. Another ideal beach which is within walkable distance from the cottage is the dog friendly beach of Tregirls, at low tide the beach can expand up to nearly a mile and half with golden sand and small caves to explore.

Reviews

The Mount is very comfortable and practical and in a wonderful location, with Trevone, Hawkers Cove and Padstow all an easy walk away. It is extremely well-equipped and the view from the kitchen window lifted my spirits every morning.

Mrs B,

Undoubtably one of the best equipped holiday homes we have stayed at. Ideally suited for coastal walking and only a short drive to various glorious beaches and Padstow when you get tired.

Mr M,

Beautiful peaceful cottage with lovely garden and wonderful views Well equipped and very comfortable fabulous location for hawkers cove Harlyn and Padstow Highly recommend

Rev I,

Lovely garden, and a comfortable, clean, & well equipped house. The beds were great - unusual for a rental property. The peaceful spot was great for walking, accessing beaches, & going in to Padstow.

Mr M,

The house is situated in a hamlet in a very quiet and excellent location just between Padstow and Trevone. We loved the house with all these areas where you can sit: outside in the garden (s) and inside in the very sunny extension or just in the living room. From the kitchen you have a lovely view of the green surroundings and sea. You can walk downhill to Trevone in 20 minutes, Padstow is a 30-minute walk away.

Mrs De N,

Loved it so much last year! We came again this year!

Mr Robert A,

Had a lovely Christmas stay at the Mount, 2 couples and 1 dog. Found the property very well-equipped with everything we could possibly have needed and clean upon arrival. It was freshly painted, it’s a lovely cosy cottage and an absolutely perfect location (proximity to Padstow, coastal path, Trevone and Harbour Cove beaches and farm shop a plus!). If you have a large dog the front garden is fully secure, the side garden backs onto a field that large dogs could get into so something to be aware of. Would book again.

Ms F,

Location

Padstow is arguably now one of the best-known of Cornwall's holiday destinations - a working harbour still retaining the character of the fishing industry while also managing to reinvent itself as a modern holiday destination. Padstow has so much to offer the discerning holiday maker, with several beaches along the Camel Estuary, where you can also have a go at a range of water sports such as sailing and windsurfing, as well as a variety of boat trips such as fishing excursions, speedboat rides, sea-life safaris and the ever popular Jubilee Queen. You can indulge your passion for food at an excellent selection of restaurants in the town, which is now the base for a number of celebrity chefs including Rick Stein and Paul Ainsworth.  If you're looking for more active pursuits, you can cycle the Camel Trail, the route of the old railway line running between Padstow and Bodmin.  If walking is more your thing, there are many walking trails and routes waiting to be discovered, and if you're bringing a dog, there are plenty of dog-friendly places to explore. Gaining popularity in recent years is the Padstow Christmas Festival, now spread over four days, with cookery demonstrations, food and craft market, and entertainment.
