We have recently come across a fascinating book by Stewart Borrett, 'A Swanage Wartime Childhood'', where fifteen contributors lead you through their wartime memories; how the war affected them, their home life, family and friends. With stories of evacuees staying with their families, the armed forces billeted to the area and lots of colourful experiences, the book is perfect for those visiting the area, interested in the history of Swanage or studying the period at school, college or university.

The book is available at the second-hand bookshop on Station Road in Swanage for £6.99.

We also have a copy to browse at the Wyke Dorset Cottage Office if you fancy popping in to see us!
