Visiting Strete

Strete’s most famous landmark has to be Start Point, one of Britain’s most exposed peninsulas. Located at Start Bay, just 3 miles south of Strete, the peninsula is a must-see during your holiday. Derived from the Anglo-Saxon term for tail, ‘steort’, Start Point has been part of the South Devon landscape for many centuries and still delights all those who choose to walk down it, due to its sheer scale.  

In Strete village, you’ll find one of its most charming features, the local pub, The King’s Arms. The King’s Arms is unique in that it is one hundred percent community-owned and run. They have a large beer garden, serve the most delicious food and will happily welcome your dog. There really is no better way to support the local community than by paying a visit or two to the Strete local.  

Strete is also located on the South West Coast Path and is perfect for those seeking a walking holiday spent exploring surrounding local beaches.
