Cottages on Holy Island
Holy Island, known as Lindisfarne, is often regarded as being the epicentre of the origins of English Christianity, with traces of Celtic Christianity on the island dating back to the 6th century. The priory, which is open to visitors today, was a monastic site for centuries. Lindisfarne Castle, Holy Island’s other significant landmark, was strategically significant in defending the North from Viking and Scottish invasions and is also open to visitors.
Holy Island is also known for its splendid scenery, and many coastal walks on the island are very popular. The island is also home to a variety of birds and is a key spot for wildlife lovers and nature explorers. It is important to note, however, that Holy Island is separated from the mainland by a natural causeway that can only be accessed during low tide, twice a day, so all visitors must check tide times before they visit.
We also offer cottages in some smaller villages and hamlets nearby, including Bamburgh, Adderstone, Dukesfield, Waren Mill , Seahouses, and Budle Bay.
