Bede Cottage offers a warm and well-located base for couples or a small family, perfectly placed for discovering Northumberland’s coast and countryside. Set just off the A1, it’s ideally positioned for day trips to some of the region’s most-loved destinations. Spend the day exploring the Holy Island of Lindisfarne – a unique tidal island rich in history, with sweeping beaches, ancient priory ruins and inviting spots for coffee or lunch. Nearby Goswick Beach stretches wide with golden sand, ideal for long walks, beach games or paddling. Berwick-upon-Tweed offers riverside strolls, independent shops and the impressive Elizabethan town walls, while Bamburgh promises dramatic sea views, an iconic castle and a vast beach. For wildlife lovers, boat trips from Seahouses head out to the Farne Islands to spot puffins, seals and sometimes dolphins.

Inside, the cottage has an easygoing charm. The open-plan living space includes a well-equipped kitchen, a dining area that’s perfect for a quiet breakfast or evening meal, and a comfortable lounge area with Smart TV for relaxing after a day out. A ground-floor shower room sits just off the living space. Upstairs, the mezzanine-style bedroom features a double bed and a single, making it well-suited to a couple or a small family.

Step outside to a private enclosed patio with garden furniture — an ideal spot for your morning coffee or a relaxed drink at sunset. Beyond this, guests can enjoy a large, shared garden, where the owners are creating peaceful spots to unwind, including a fire pit area, orchard, herb garden, and wildflower planting. A private laundry room with washing machine is available for guest use, along with access to a well-equipped shared mudroom featuring a hot shower — ideal for rinsing sandy dogs, muddy boots, or beach gear.

There’s off-road parking for one car, secure bike storage, and access to a shared EV charging point. While the location does mean there may be some road noise, it’s generally modest and soon fades into the background. For larger groups, three other bookable properties sit within the same site.

Great weekend getaway property. Very well equipped making the stay very easy. Situated on the side of the A1 but the noise from traffic was limited and gave access to great areas to visit Lovely communal garden which is being developed with wild flowers and nice seating. A pretty little cottage little being the operative word. The whole of the downstairs (bathroom, kitchen, dining and sitting areas) was no larger than a reasonably sized lounge. (The photos in the listing were somewhat deceptive). The 2-seat settee was rather small for two adults and was not particularly comfortable. The single chair was again oRead moren the small size and very uncomfortable. Having a third person there would be quite crowded. A few minor issues - a layer of dust and a dead spider on one of the dinner plates in the cupboard (not a pleasant welcome) and a couple of minor issues with bathroom fittings, which were promptly addressed. A good provision of tableware. Upstairs the double bed was very soft (too soft for us), and the single bed very hard and very uncomfortable. A good sized chest of drawers, but no wardrobe the only clothes hanging space were two hooks on the wall. Hide

A pleasant and well appointed little cottage with an extremely comfortable bed! Note: It's right next to a services stop so there are trucks positioned outside for periods of time.

Great little place from which to explore Northumberland, super close to lovely beaches and Holy Island. Very well equipped kitchen, bright and airy accommodation - perfect for a couple or family of 3. Beautiful shared garden, which we discovered by accident. 30 seconds walk from petrol station shop and from a nice pub. The only downside is that theRead more property sits right on the A1, so if sleeping with the windows open, the road is quite noisy - take ear plugs! Hide
