Cottages in Looe

Originally two separate towns, Looe still has an East and West side which are very distinctive from each other but both boast amazing natural surroundings and coastal views. We have lots of unique and original holiday cottages across Looe and the surrounding area is part of our larger collection of coastal cottages in Cornwall that are perfect for exploring all the Cornish east coast has to offer.

Many of our Looe properties live up to the quintessential image of Cornwall, antiquated whitewashed fisherman’s cottages with cosy interiors and dazzling sea views. We also have an array of modern homes and apartments, as well as luxury holiday cottages boasting the very best amenities, from swimming pools and hot tubs, to large gardens and private parking. Whether you choose a cottage in East Looe, with its bustling harbour, or West Looe, which is much quieter, we will have something to suit you and all your needs.

Things to do in Looe

There are several beaches close to Looe town, including East Looe Beach beside the famous Banjo Pier in the heart of the town. In West Looe, there is also Hannafore Beach, from which there are views across to Looe Island. These two beaches are perfect for hours of free fun, building sandcastles, going crabbing, playing in the water – the list goes on! Many of our holiday cottages in Looe are within walking distance of at least one of these beaches, making them perfect for those seeking a traditional seaside holiday.

Looe Island lies about 1 mile off the coast of Looe and covers an area of 22.5 acres and is 1 mile in circumference. Looe Island was once a holy pilgrimage site, but nowadays is a natural sanctuary for birds, rare plants and wildlife whilst enjoying magnificent views as far as Prawle Point in Devon as well as the Lizard Peninsula. The island is open to day visitors in the season and is accessible by boat. On the island, there are no roads, no shops and no cars. Instead, there are simply two beaches, a natural rock swimming pool, caves and wonderful woodland walks. Many of our holiday cottages in Looe enjoy views across to Looe Island, as well as over the river and out to the sea beyond.

Looe still retains a working fish port with local fish found on the menus of many of the local restaurants. Why not sit back, relax and watch the fishing boats unload their daily catch before dining out in a local restaurant? The town prides itself on its fresh fish, so whether it be the local fish and chippy or a more gourmet restaurant, you know you won’t be disappointed. The banjo pier is a popular place to watch the local fisherman return especially at high tide. The Sardine Factory Heritage Centre in West Looe tells the story of Looe’s maritime heritage.

To work off all that food, the South West Coast Path passes right through the town, making the town a great walking location. Most of our holiday cottages in Looe are close to the South West Coast Path. The path is often noted as one of Cornwall’s most dog-friendly attractions, so why not take a look at our dog-friendly cottages in Looe and bring your four-legged friend along so they can experience fabulous East Cornwall alongside you? Feel free to also have a browse through our larger selection of pet-friendly homes across Cornwall.
