Cottages in St Ives

St. Ives is ‘the’ iconic resort, quintessentially Cornish, it sits on the northern coastline enjoying a location and natural light so beloved of generations of artists.

There have been so many adjectives used about St. Ives – quaint, historic, picturesque, and charming - the list just goes on and all of them are true. A tried and tested destination for family holidays, however St. Ives has much to offer all types of visitor as its appeal extends far beyond the traditional seaside holiday.

St. Ives is a port and is a classic Cornish experience of steep streets with pretty cottages in granite and whitewash. The town clusters around the harbour with its colourful vessels and there are four adjacent sandy beaches for those long bucket and spade days.

A town of many dimensions, St Ives has much to interest those who enjoy literature and the arts. Tate St. Ives was built in 1993, one of only four Tate galleries in the world and a testament to the town's’ international regard on the art scene.

The streets are bustling with craft shops sitting cheek by jowl with lovely harbour side cafes and restaurants and ancient fishermen's pubs. You could spend several days just exploring these tiny streets in the old quarter known as ‘the Downalong’ before enjoying the harbour and the four award winning beaches for sailing, swimming and surfing or just sitting on the sand.

Seal Island, located just over three miles from St. Ives, is a popular destination for visitors. This large seal colony can be seen up close by boat and you can also enjoy one of the best views of St. Ives from the water. It really is just the complete Cornish picture postcard.
