Cottages in Mawgan Porth
Mawgan Porth on the North Cornish coast is situated between Padstow and Newquay, two top destinations which need no further introduction.
Smaller and more intimate, Mawgan Porth sits away from the hotspots further up the coast but nonetheless offers a real and authentic Cornish holiday. There is a panoramic western facing beach and the local eateries can compare with anything to be found in Padstow.
The beach at Mawgan Porth is undoubtedly the main attraction. Wide open sands offer a paradise for surfers and those who enjoy beach sports, but there are also rock pools and caves for exploring or perhaps just find a quiet spot to spend time with family or indulge in a good book.
Venture along the coastline for stunning cliff top walks that offer access to some of the most dramatic and beautiful scenery that the Atlantic coast has to offer – as far as Trevose Head and beyond for the adventurous – this route will take in the spectacular Bedruthan Steps.
Mawgan Porth offers really good access to the popular towns of Padstow which is 20 minutes by car, and Newquay which is a 15 minute drive away but the town’s pubs, restaurants and shops will tempt you not to stray too far afield. Travel inland and you can quickly reach Bodmin and the Moor, and let the dramatic and remote landscape beautifully captured in Daphne Du Maurier’s famous novel ‘Jamaica Inn’ fire your imagination. What a contrast to the coast, just going to show that Cornwall really does have a diverse and fascinating landscape.
We have a range of lovely cottages and houses many of which hold the coveted VisitEngland award, and almost all of which have spectacular sea views across the beach at Mawgan Porth.
