Cottages in Scarborough

Scarborough is located on the east coast of Yorkshire between Whitby and Flamborough Head, on the edge of the North York Moors National Park.

Said to be Britain’s oldest seaside resort, the town is an ancient settlement with Viking origins, although even earlier fossil remains along the coastline have given rise to the name Dinosaur Coast.

Scarborough is probably best known for its spectacular and unmistakable Grand Hotel, completed in 1863 and at the time the largest hotel in Europe and one of the largest in the world.

This fine building still dominates the front at Scarborough, overlooking the harbour and the picturesque South Bay. The Grand Hotel was nominated as one of Historic England’s seven wonders of the English seaside. The four towers are said to represent the seasons with twelve floors for each month of the year.

Offering something for everyone, Scarborough has safe, clean beaches, traditional seaside amusements, and a miniature railway and Sea Life Centre located on North Bay. There is an historic castle or you could visit the Grade II-listed Scarborough Spa which has beautiful gardens and is also home to the Scarborough Spa Orchestra, the last remaining seaside orchestra in the UK. For those keen on the theatre, dramatist Alan Ayckbourn is based in Scarborough and is director at the well-known Stephen Joseph Theatre in the town where nearly all of his plays have their first run.

Choose a pretty fisherman’s cottage in Old Scarborough or perhaps a more modern apartment located higher up on the cliffs with spectacular views over North Bay. Whatever you are looking for, we have a selection of properties in and around the town, or expand your search to include nearby cottages in Robin Hood's Bay, properties in Filey or the whole of the Yorkshire Coast.
