Cottages in Reydon

Just inland from Southwold, Reydon sits nestling in the beautiful Suffolk countryside, this is an ancient village mentioned in the Domesday Book. Despite its long history, Reydon is a modern, thriving rural community with an active and vibrant village life, welcoming to visitors.  It is just a short walk or drive to Southwold across Buss Creek, the best of both worlds. Connected to the sea by the River Blyth estuary, Reydon had its own quay in previous years and a rich and colourful smuggling history, and you can still see smugglers windows in some of the historic properties situated near the old quayside.

The joy of Reydon is being able to walk out from one of our lovely properties and enjoy the surrounding landscape.  Take a stroll in Reydon Woods filled with bluebells in late spring, or on the marshland that sits alongside the Blyth estuary, which is a haven for wildlife and filled with sea lavender in the summer months.

The architecture is varied and interesting from the ancient St. Margaret’s church to Reydon Hall, the former home of the illustrious writers and poets, the Strickland family.  Taking you right up to date is the impressive and rather eccentric Quay House overlooking the marshes, with its crinkle-crankle wall.  Reydon is well served with a hotel and restaurant and a small shop. Reydon is a peaceful village within walking distance of the delights of Southwold, and makes an ideal retreat after a day spent in the town sampling all the delights that Southwold has to offer. We have lots of lovely properties both in Reydon and around the village, some in the centre and others in a getaway from it all location. Many are within walking distance of Southwold so no need to even use your car to explore this lovely area.
