Boats on the Norfolk Broads

Broads Tours and Boat Hire

There is no better way to see the Norfolk Broads than on a boat. Wroxham is a great location to start your Broads adventure from, as it is right at the heart of the River Bure and taking a tour with Broads Tours, or hiring a day boat yourself, will take you down the river towards Horning and go right through the heart of the Bure Marshes Nature Reserve. See the gorgeous houses that line the rivers’ edges, pass sailboats and do a spot of bird-watching (you may even see a Heron) all while cruising along the water in style. If being on the water’s edge sounds like a dream, check out our cottages in Hoveton, Horning and Wroxham to extend your stay on the Norfolk Broads.

Child on her fathers shoulder in woodland

BeWILDerwood

Here in Norfolk, we are very lucky to have one of the two BeWILDerwood adventure parks in the UK. Based on the beloved books by Tom Bloefeld and set in the woods near Hoveton, BeWILDerwood is best described as a magical kingdom full of adventures. Treetop climbing frames, toddler-friendly play areas, colourful boat tours, a storytelling stage, slides and lots and lots of magical creatures along the way, BeWILDerwood is a truly mesmerizing place. With activities to cater for all ages, even the big kids in tow will love a day out to BeWILDerwood.

Steam train crossing the countryside

Holt to Sheringham Steam Train

The Poppy Line on the North Norfolk runs between Sheringham and Holt almost daily and transports its travellers on an authentic steam locomotive, similar to the ones that journeyed across Norfolk in the nineteenth century. Not just a great way to experience the history of UK rail, but also a fun and interesting way to get between these two iconic Norfolk towns, the Holt to Sheringham railway is fun for all the family. Keep an eye out on their website for seasonal attractions too, including the winter light show train.

Roarr! Dinosaur Adventure

About 25 minutes outside Norwich is one of Norfolk’s most beloved family attractions. Roarr! Dinosaur Adventure boasts the region’s largest dinosaur trail with some really impressive animatronics, a Splash Park, dino-themed crazy golf, go-karts, high-ropes, a soft play area and much, much more. With an activity suited for all ages, this is an absolute must visit for families. Roarr! are also big on celebrating and annually hosts Halloween, Christmas, Easter and summer-themed events, so no matter what the time of year, there will always be something special happening. With a cafe, restaurant, shop and plenty of accessible facilities, block out a whole day of your trip to visit Roarr, as we guarantee you won’t want to leave.

Blakeney Seals

Off the shores at Morston Quay on Blakeney Point lives England’s largest colony of Grey seals. Trips to see the seals are fun by local ferry companies, all of whom offer lots of local insight into the lives of the seals and also the various bird species that live on Blakeney Point. Choose from Beans Seal Trips, Bishop’s Boats, Ptarmigan Seal Trips or Temples Seal Trips - all are excellent. Tickets can be purchased from Blakeney Harbour or Morston Quay and boats depart regularly throughout the day. Check out our Walks Guide to find out more about the walk between the two spots.
